    Open season on the QB market!

    The whole Dak Prescott thing just heated up with some strong comments from Troy Aikman.

    missed that. what has Troy said?

    Wentz to the Colts for a third this year and a conditional first next year. (Wentz needs to start 75% or 70% plus Colts make the playoffs)

    Eagles take the biggest dead money cap hit in NFL history, Wentz is reunited with Frank Reich.

    Eagles show that QB economics in the NFL are farked, and that it's a total punt

    If Wentz can produce an a reasonable level this is going to be a good deal for the Colts. His cap hits will be around the 25m mark forthe next 4 years which is expensive but lower end for a starting qb.

    To clarify my post before, if he doesn't hit those targets then the Colts send a second round pick, so the cheapest he could be is a second and a third.

    The Colts are in a great position to make a run over the next few years.

    It's going to be interesting to see what Philly do in the draft now - they have the 6th pick - do they go QB? If not, they could be a perfect spot for someone to trade up.

    @kiwimurph

    Yeah, the reports are that they want someone to compete with Hurts but whether that's a rookie or a veteran remains to be seen.

    Could depend on how the draft falls. They might have one of the qbs that they love and will otherwise try to trade down.

    Adam Schefter put the over/under for qb changes this off season at 18. This puts us at 4 so far and the new league year hasn't even officially started.

    Not what I expected, that is a tough division if he wants to win. But its nice and warm there

    i just realised all the pass rushers Wilson has to face in that division. Might really push for a move now? Purely for health reasons?

    Welcome to The Valley, JJ Watt. It's a pity my only allegiance to Arizona is with the Suns because the Cardinals should be a really sticky watch next season.

    Quite amazing how many big names have been traded or signed to NFC West in recent years.

    Jamal Adams, Jalen Ramsey, Stafford, Hopkins, Trent Williams, JJ Watt

    Dak Prescott saga is finally over.

    Enormous 4 year contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.

    Dak won this negotiation.

    Talk about making bank.

    @kiwimurph that's ridiculous

    QB economics do not make any sense, so there is no point trying to rationalise any transfer discussions.

    @mariner4life This is one of the reasons why QBs are so sought after in the Draft - first rounders have a 5 year contract (well 4 + a team option year) of relatively low cost.

    That is a super back loaded contract. Year 5 he'll count 13.5m against the cap, despite his contract ending after 4 years.

    But with the cap coming down, probably a lot, this year it makes sense. Cap hit this year will be a bit over 22m. Next year will be a 33m hit and they'll be praying that league revenues bounce back big time. The 40m hits in 23 and 24 will hurt, but will be prime candidates for a restructure, pushing even more money to those voidable years. Cowboys have thought ahead on that one - the contract is 6 years (last 2 voiding) even though the max proration period is 5 years, clearly expecting to want to convert salary to roster bonus in the future.

    Honestly, I don't think this is a terrible deal for the cowboys. As long as Dak comes back from injury 100% and the league revenues recover next year this contract is probably a narrow win for the cowboys.

    The Seahawks Russell Wilson phoney war continues. Russ says he doesn't want to be traded, but provides a list of teams he is willing to be traded to. And the Hawks send the season ticket holders a letter talking about next season and there is no mention of Wilson. I know it will never happen, but you are welcome in SF Russ, and we can offer you better protection than Seattle

    Prudent. His arm was shot. Thomas will be happy. So will they get Russell Wilson?
