Great performance. Phillips closes the match out. Great way to finish the series after starting under pressure

Guess it's back to the manuscript. Good work black caps.

Excellent win to wrap up the series after a couple of lacklustre performances.

    Wonderful performance.

Conway opening and Chapman in for Jamieson were two excellent changes that made a huge difference.

We were a lot less predictable today with the batting order and bowling choices, it made a big difference.

As the commentators said, this XI might provide a good blueprint for the T20 World Cup team later this year. We probably need one more outright spinner though, and I'm unsure who that could be? I can't think of anyone outside of Sodhi and Santner who's played more to than a couple of T20s. The back up 'keeper could be Phillips or maybe Blundell comes into the squad but it seems a mild waste of a spot.

@shark The names mentioned in a Stuff article yesterday were Cole McConchie, Michael Rippon and Ajaz Patel. I haven't seen any domestic cricket this season, so can't comment on the first two, but McConchie would add to the batting depth.

@bovidae It will probably be Astle as he is the only one with previous international white ball experience.

Wow, we won a big one against Oz, and did it easy. Not a common occurrence at all.

    Phillips innings was bloody impressive.

Kane backing and bowling those part time spinners was huge. Fortune favouring the brave

I didn’t see any post game stuff, but notice Cricinfo reporting that Sodhi got it.

As for our T20 lineup, I’m more in the “if someone else is in form then give him a chance ahead of Kane” camp.

I’m far happier for Kane to get golden ducks at this silly stuff rather than the real game.

Don’t get the suggestions that Kane maybe shouldn’t be in the T20 team.

He hasn’t had a great series, but he’s usually pretty bloody reliable and able to change his tempo at the drop of a hat to suit the game situation.

Kane’s in the side for the foreseeable, IMHO

I agree, for me he’s first name down no matter what the format.

But if he has to drop one I hope to god it’s this.

We're going to drop the one batsman with the most runs, success and experience at t20 cricket in Indian conditions, for a t20 world cup in Indian conditions?

None of us have played at this level so we’re not qualified to comment but we have no idea what toll the workload is.

If he needs to be “dropped” from the 20/20 team for the good of his ODI and above all test record then I’d be all for that.

Perhaps the less said about the White Ferns batting the better. Though from the parts I saw of the domestic comp, the difference in the quality of bowling between domestic and international is massive.

You're seriously thinking about dropping the best cricket player new Zealand has produced because 2 weeks of work a year (14 games) is going to increase his anxiety?😏

Fuck off middle aged, hair dyed, thrice divorced, astrology counsellor and give us back that occasionally funny thrifty wannabe Scotsman! 😉

worryingly outclassed all summer. The game seems to have moved on and we haven't kept up. May be professional contracts are needed now to compete - I've enjoyed some of what I'v ewatched, but you can't win games putting down multiple soft catches.
