Perhaps the less said about the White Ferns batting the better. Though from the parts I saw of the domestic comp, the difference in the quality of bowling between domestic and international is massive.

worryingly outclassed all summer. The game seems to have moved on and we haven't kept up. May be professional contracts are needed now to compete - I've enjoyed some of what I'v ewatched, but you can't win games putting down multiple soft catches.

quoting myself - but looks like the ECB just increased professional women contracts from 25 to 41.

ECB announces 41 full-time domestic contracts in women's cricket

ECBs Clare Connor says the additional 16 contracts, which swell the number of full-time domestic deals to 41, is not only great for players but offers young girls the opportunity to see womens cricket as a viable career they can pursue

... and it looks like NZ have about 17 (a year ago now). So, we ahve full time professionals - should expect better skill execution. We just didn't seem to fire a shot

About the women's team, I'd question whether Bob Carter has done anything to improve the team.

@shark The names mentioned in a Stuff article yesterday were Cole McConchie, Michael Rippon and Ajaz Patel. I haven't seen any domestic cricket this season, so can't comment on the first two, but McConchie would add to the batting depth.

Patel has been on the scene for years and has only played 2 or 3 T20s so he can probably be discounted. I'm not worried about another spinner being able to bat as for mine a third recognised tweaker would probably only be required as an injury replacement for Sodhi or Santner.

Wow, we won a big one against Oz, and did it easy. Not a common occurrence at all.

    Phillips innings was bloody impressive.

Kane backing and bowling those part time spinners was huge. Fortune favouring the brave

There was next to no pressure on Phillips coming in after a 100 run opening stand and with Chapman, Seifert and Neesham all available. He batted well but with absolute freedom also.

@nzzp Lucky for them their pay is not based solely on results. Clearly the problem must be based around too harsh coaching as so often is cited by female sportsmen in NZ.

Yeah, fuck his 34 off 16 balls (11 scoring balls), at a strike rate of 212 because Chapman or Neesham or an injured Seifert would have done that easy after coming in on a hattrick when the required run rate climbed to it's highest point and every seasoned Black caps supporter felt a tiny gulp in their throats.

Far better to dwell on a hypothetical than praise a man who got something done 😏

10 too soon. I would have been nervous with scores level 4 overs to go and 10 wickets in hand. The idea of a super over alone should send shivers down the spine.

I don't get the calls to drop Kane from the T20s. I agree if he is feeling fatigued but he has been one of the key players until the last 3 games, not to mention his performances in the IPL where he is one of the few Kiwi batsmen to have success.

But then the Fern has always been the place to call for people's heads due to only being able to remember the previous game.

Well not in his case. He’s universally adored.....but to reiterate my point if he forgoes 20/20 to help his career in the other two formats then so be it.

Yep, you're right, with the integral part being it's his decision alone. I'm up for anything he wants to do. Hell he could insist on batting in black face, wearing a diamond tiara and striding out to " nice tits, shame about the face" at full bore, and I'd back him to the hilt!

I just want to watch him bat as much as possible. Even his golden ducks are classy🙂
