@taniwharugby i was watching old 80s NPC rugby the other day and i had forgotten what rucks were like. Rucks were brutal and perhaps bringing back rucking would free up the ball. Because it wasn't really rucking, it was stomping on motherfuckers with impunity. Dudes got the fuck out of that ruck as fast as they could roll.

Also lineouts without lifting were heaps better.

i looked up some highlights a while back from the 90's and they it was like a different game in lots of ways, free flowing, end to end etc

Recently watched the 2005 Lions tour and I consider it peak rugby. They still had rucks, dodgy tackles and space in no small measure as a result of the referees.

It was more a sea mist and sea colour which gave the illusion - still wondrous though
