@rancid-schnitzel we watched it over the weekend too, was very surprised at how good its reviews were, it was almost unfollowable
It was terrible. My son had to watch Bogus Journey immediately after to “take away the pain”. I got the same feeling watching this as I did watching the latest Ghostbusters. Just a pointless, very badly written film that fails miserably to capture the magic of the originals. That robot and the daughters were particularly terrible. Death is always good value but even his scenes were overly long and unfunny. Alex Winter looked tired but was at least trying. Keanu looked more asleep than usual. Was barely even phoning it in.
What next? A remake of Wayne’s World?

would you put it past mike myers?
i didn;t mind the daughters if im honest, i think it almost could have been better if it was them finding out what their dads had told them was all true etc
the robot...was real bad, could have been funny bad if it had only been a short scene...but it was always there
have to say it was also a bit cringeworthy recasting the wives with noticeably younger actresses

Is Mike Meters desperate for attention? He must be richer than shit with the AP and Shrek franchises. Maybe he’ll come back if Dana Carvey is desperate for cash. Bet that’s the only reason Reeves made the latest abomination, ie to help out his costar who hasn’t worked in 20 years.
Didn’t notice the princesses. The actresses in Bogus Journey were different to the original ones anyway.
With the daughters it would have been much funnier if they were the opposite of B and T rather than unfunny semiretarded imitations. Just didn’t work, but can’t blame the actresses themselves for that.

@rancid-schnitzel yeah, at least when they re cast the last time they were still about the same age as reeves/winter....the new ones look 15-20 years younger, must just have been me

Cherry
Dark, and not to everyone's taste but lingers long and bitter.
Tom Holland is superb.

anyone going to watch the Sydner Cut, think it comes out this weekend, HBO max in the US but assume it will be available on other platforms around the world

It’s on Binge. Luckily I share a friends login so I can watch it without contributing financially and then complain about it.

its still so weird there is going to be these two versions of Justice league out there that will be so different, not just a directors cut from what ive read, a different story
@Kirwan i was going to say dont forget about Justice league...and then remembered this replaces that

Joss Whedon only used 30mins of footage that Synder shot. So we are getting three and a half hours of the footage he originally shot. Only filmed one new scene.
It’s going to be completely different.

@nepia i need a friend like that
Well I share Stan with him, ouch does that technically mean I'm paying for it? Nah, it's ok, I get his Netflix as well so that balances out Stan.

was it that little? i knew there was a lot of unused footage but i thought a lot was also going to be just "remastered" like steppenwolf looks completely different etc
so wheedon came in and shot like and hour and a half more than snyder had originally ?

I think after I watch JL he'll owe me - 4 hours of my time is worth more than a year or twos subscription to Netflix.

Yep, reshoots were 90mins of new footage and the little he did use he messed with the colour grading, edited entire characters out, swapped night to day. Changed the colour of super mans suit. Crap like that.
Synder quit because he couldn’t face fighting the studio heads after his family tragedy. They wanted a two hour movie so they could fit more screenings per day.
He was asking for closer to three hours, and had it almost cut ready for final effects. So not only did they pay for Synder to film about five hours of footage (to be edited down), but then paid Whedon for even more AND then paid another $70 million to finish the Synder Cut.
Obviously the people making those decisions have all been fired. The HBO Max release of this is an attempt to get the fans back onside, in preparation of the new Flash film that will have multiple Batmans in it. Otherwise known as the reset button.
Have to laugh at a story going around that Nolan (producer on these films) has forbidden Synder from ever seeing the Joss version.
How the mighty have fallen.
