@dice Christie played 40 minutes ,also playing was Taine Plumtree in picture, Nerai Fomai who started at 2nd five and Jacob Ratumaitavuki Keepkens came in in the 2nd half ..this kid has got a sensational skill set not to mention great game sense..it’s not a matter of if , it’s a case of when

@sparky Awesome news. Depending on how many games a season theyplay going forward, he could go close to breaking the all time appearances record for the Blues.

Not great news for poor Dillon Hunt.

Makes you shiver when you think what would have happened with these guys in years past - they just would have kept playing.

Coventry confirmed Hunt, who had joined the franchise from the Highlanders, could potentially miss the entire season as he worked through ongoing head issues.

“Dillon has been given a reprieve around trying to get himself available for selection which can cause a bit of anxiety for guys with head injuries. He’s been given time go away and seek medical advice. He’s working with specialists and it’s taken the pressure off him to be back by a certain date,” said Coventry.

“He’s the sort of boy who feels like he’s letting the team down, so we’ve tried to assure him getting himself healthy again is what we’re after … everyone has his best interests at heart.”

But Coventry confirmed Hunt’s situation was serious enough that “we may not have him this year”.

@kiwimurph that’s awful. Leon McDonald has first hand experience of all of that too, so hopefully comes back like he did. Same with McCaw.

It’s great the club is taking pressure off him.

Got a chance to re watch the game from the weekend. Just wanted to re state quite how dominant the blues were, that could easily have been 50 points.

Also, the tackling was superb. Lots of critical tackles getting made around the bootlaces, was great to watch live.

Perofeta has been a revelation at the back. Steady, solid and well positioned. Just does the job, no guys, no excitement. Allowing other stars to shine.

Can't wait for the weekend, no downside and plenty of upside for us.

"Super Rugby: Blues boost as Blake Gibson return offsets Dalton Papalii defection"

I'm just baffled, and annoyed, at the headline. WTF are they talking about?

I have just googled to see if there was some other meaning for "defection" that I didn't know about. What am I missing?

I am starting to see what others having been seeing about Papalii. I do wonder what position will be his best in the long run, especially at AB level. He seems a cross between a 7 and a 6 to me.

@pukunui It's quite common term in sporting press, for defection when someone is out.

Makes no sense but it is common

What was wrong with lesson, or even lessons? A perfectly serviceable word.

@machpants Where? I've never seen it before. Hinton loves American sports; is it common in American sports media?

Maybe it is in UK media? I am certainly aware of having read it before. Still a pointless use of the word but so is learnings

@machpants I have seen defection used in that context before, but I think it was during the M10 Cup last year on Stuff.
