Shows how crap public voting is.
as a pure moment, the All Whites scoring to put them in to the world Cup, or Grant Elliot hitting that 6 will stand out pretty much forever.
I think it was the Paston penalty save, that just eclipses the Fallon goal (I actually had to think who scored, rather than automatically recalling the penalty). That was 'the' moment.
But, regardless, the qualifying playoff match was in 2009 . Not in this decade.
As someone who was at the Caketin for this game, and at Eden Park for the 2011 RWC final, I would pick the football over the rugby for a sporting moment. I was very relaxed at Eden Park, but must have been the only one.

Lower tier of the North Stand towards the terraces end. I sat in the West Stand for other games (QF, SF).

crowd tense but vocal, voiced their dismay at Beaver coming on, while my mate and I sang his praises as a varsity man. And we were right.

I think I was near you. In line with the 22 at the end Beaver kicked his goal over. Had that grumpy old curmudgeon Murray Deaker behind me. I remember the cops lining the sidelines in the second 40, like they were worried about a pitch invasion. It was pretty quiet and tense in the final 15 despite me and my mates trying to rark everyone around us into action

I don't think I've felt that wound up over rugby ever since. 24 years of pain and suffering expunged in 80 minutes. The peace I felt the next morning was so profound

Considering the hour in which I started drinking I’m amazed I finished it
that whole tournament was jsut amazing. I don't care what it cost, was one of the highlihgts of my rugby watching life. I went to 13 games, missed a 14th because of the birth of my child (probably excusable).
That weather on the opening day match against Tonga was just insane. Auckland went nuts, it was like the last day of schoold before the holidays. Just a massive celebration of rugby. So so much fun.
Most enjoyable game of rugby for me was Tonga Canada up in Whangarei. Okara park was packed, was just a great day out and a really good game of rugby

@nzzp me too man. Flew back for the while group stage, went to a heap of games in a bunch of different places. Opening day trying to get a train in to town we knew something was different.

Jesus, it was like I was at a different game than everyone else - where I was sitting Donald got a big supportive cheer from everyone.

100% agree, I went to a bunch of games, spent a truckload of cash but it was all worth it. Luckily for me my boss just let me do it, I did a bit of work in between travelling and games and didn't taken.any leave. Good thing too was that in nearly every place I went with different mates/family and kept bumping into people I hadn't seen in years.

Was listening to Devlin yesterday and he suggested Moment was decided by the judges. Which momentarily pisses me off.
And then I remembered you could vote (I voted once and it was a pain). Public votes are open to abuse and stupidity and are thus excusable.
Stupidity by appointed experts is not.To my mind the final whistle in 2011 is as far in front of the next most momentus moment (Elliot 6), as the Elliot 6 is in front of whatever is third.
And my opinion includes all the reasons many of don't like: the grind, the tension, the nerves, the weight of 24 years. It truly was fucking amazing.
