There is meant to be an EPL meeting between the other 14 clubs tomorrow. It is expected that they will agree that the "big 6" will have to leave the EPL at the end of the season. That's 19 less home games to generate revenue for those clubs. Who is going to blink first?

I think the main reason the ESL will fail at this point is that they have pretty much just made it up on the spot without really working out the details.

Hasn't this been in the pipeline since 2019? I agree they may have rushed the announcement - probably to take steam out of UEFA's announcement the following day - but they must have been talking details for some time? Otherwise, how could anyone make the decision to join?

I’m sure the players will be nicely compensated but not being able to play international games will be a hard pill to swallow.

This could get ugly. Funny that UEFA and maybe FIFA would take the moral high ground, when they along with the IOC are probably the most corrupt sports organisations in the world. I can't see how they can legally block players from representing their countries, and if it works those international tourneys such as the Euros will suffer if a great number of marquee stars are left out

Not too much from the current players that I've seen. But Klopp said last night he was against it. He's a fairly big hitter.

They may block them initially. I guess the longer the new league exists, and if it does well and if the existing comps suffer financially, eventually UEFA and the FAs will come to the table. It happened with cricket and league
On one hand I think it would be wise to consult the players. On the other hand, since when do the owners care what the players think? The fact there were no locker room leaks about this thing (despite it being a rumour for a while), and the comments by Mourinho and Klop against the move suggest they were as surprised as anyone.

It is an interesting point, that with Super League and WSC there was buy in from the players involved. The resolve of the players in these clubs will be sorely tested if the league goes ahead. Will the players shut up and take the assumed extra money? Or will some of them break contracts and leave?

I'm not surprised that a PSG fan would want to join - the French Ligue 1 is cake walk for them and the only thing they have to play for each year is the Champions League. I imagine PSG is waiting to see if they can win the CL this year and, once that box has been ticked, then jump ship to the ESL.
