Generally, yes. But I think an exception is made when they're a professional sportsman or people who get paid well because they're in the public eye. Everyone who has ever heard a talkback radio show would know that if a sportsman underperforms, they will be bagged by every man and his dog, because they haven't done well at what they're paid to do. Fair to say my job gets bagged publicly when people do it poorly.

The phone lines would be clogged if family members of every sportsman who got bagged in the media decided to call up and tell the hosts what they thought of them.

It's an occupational hazard for sportsmen and sportswomen. They know what they're getting themselves in for when they sign up for the big pay packets and endorsement deals. Otherwise they'd be throwing the ball around some regional sportsground in the weekend and working full time during the week for much less money.

The only reason I could see it rational for a mother of a sportsman to ring up and defend her son would be if the criticism was well out of line or overly personal. Otherwise, I'd expect they she take it on the chin and realise that her son bowled the worst over at the death since this...

IF you want to complain, I'm assuming ringing 0800 Hauraki (Sudio ON Air Line) isn't the number you should be calling!

Read about it properly. She didnt ring that number, she rang another one and was told she could talk to the guys off air and confidentially. She was lied to.

It is patently obvious you dont have kids, because frankly if some fuckwits are talking trash about your kids on air, you might be inclined to complain, is it a good idea? No. But to call her a bint is fucking ridiculous.

And I cannot decide if you are being serious about them being cool and edgy. I am concerned you might be.

She is a bint for ringing to complain about that. Hilarious. He is a grown man.

I get enough of that on the fern and facebook.

Dumb or not by mumsy they were cocks and liars, and she had a right to believe them. So sooooo funny to humiliate someone on air.

Worked well for that nurse the Aussie djs rang.

Aren't they mixed up with that "comedian" Leigh Hart? Sums them up as desparate unfunny losers in my opinion.

I think Leigh Hart is hilarious. Can you honestly name someone in NZ who is better ? ( and I urge you not to offer up the "hilarious" "comedians" from 7 days )

She may be any number of things, but if someone says you're Off Air/not On Air, then that's exactly what it should be.

Seems like telling lies to humiliate someone on air is just fucking hilarious to some people. I think telling lies with the sole and only purpose of humiliating someone in front of a large audience is a dick move. And I sincerely hope that anyone who finds it funny gets humiliated by someone lying to them one day.

I sniggered but it certainly wasn't a full on belly laugh, I wasn't listening to Bhuja after all ( thoroughly recommend that by the way, great Radio ), does that just mean you hope I get mildly embarrassed by a white lie ?

No I just dont respect people who lie to humiliate others publically, or those that support them. Common decency isnt so common though is it.
