    Watched Hastings v Clive.

Hastings clearly superior, had the wind in the first half for a 17-0 lead. Vastly superior scrum which shunted Clive back at every scrum until props Hastings Jason Long and Dennis Tapusoa were subbed off in the second half.

Lolagi Visinia (Clive) and Danny Toala (Hastings) marked each other. Not much of a contest, as Hastings had the majority possession. Toala and Visinia confronted each other three times, all with Toala in possession, Toala was tackled twice and got around Visinia once.

On Blues v Chiefs last night:

    Zarn Sullivan = HB Under 16, 2016

    Bailyn Sullivan = HB Under 16, 2014

    Nash Cup Final tomorrow:
    HRS v Taradale

I hope they'll livestream the game and that the quality will be much better than the previous weeks.

Haven't seen the team line-ups, yet, but I assume Danny Toala will be playing for Hastings.

As posted in the Hurricanes 2021 thread, Pouri Rakete-Stones (Norths) and Lolagi Visinia (Wainuiomata) will be playing club rugby in Wellington.

Neria Fomai will play for Green Island in the Otago comp. Couldn't find Caleb Makene on a team list there.

No Danny Toala, Jacob Devery or Mason Emerson for Hastings RS.

    No Caleb Makene for Taradale.

    Overcast, hardly any wind.

Great try to Taradale left wing Majella Tufuga who scored in the corner. Kick missed 5-0 Taradale.

From the Hawke's Bay app article below:

... Taradale's regular starting halfback Humphrey Sheild out of action with a shoulder injury ...

Magpies hooker and regular Hastings Rugby and Sports No 8 Jacob Devery is likely to miss the match. He has an infected calf after being bitten by a spider.

Magpies winger Mason Emerson, who has been playing in the Hastings midfield, has yet to recover from a head knock collected in his team's 25-15 win against Taradale a fortnight ago. Fellow midfielder, Danny Toala, who scored two tries in that match, has returned to Hurricanes duty.

They'd better give him game time then, if they deny him the opportunity to play in the Nash Cup Final.

    Teams for today's 3pm final:

Hastings Rugby and Sports: Ioane Ioane, Luke Rosvali, Gideon Kautai, Andrew Hayward, Tommy Agnew, Jordan Thompson-Dunn, Connor McLeod, Fale Matamata, Jardine Chung Ching, Joe Taafa, Jessie Lesa-Sipaia, Angus McGuire, Dennis Tapusoa, Miracle Lolofie, Jason Long (captain). Substitutes: Matt Wilson, Eugene Sandilands, Billie Crosswell, Ausage Fomai, Johnny Saifiti, Alex Philip, Danya Tulou.

    Thompson Dunn at 10 again.

Taradale Rugby and Sports: Dylan Ramsay, Nathan Ramsay, Hemaua Samasoni, Kienan Higgins, Majella Tufuga, Brad Truesdale, Karl Hewitt, Iakopo Mapu, Nathan Tweedy, Josh Eden-Whaitiri, Sam Combs, Ben Freschini, Wiremu Cottrell, Gene Syminton, Namatahi Waa (captain). Substitutes: Liam Rowlands, Lolani Faleiva, Jayden Walker, Bonny Litera, Thomas Eden, Cam Robinson, Brayden Cunningham.

@number-10 Fomai is a Hastings man, too, isn't he?

So they're missing 4 Magpies. That may explain the score line.

@stargazer Yep, no Fomai, but he hasn’t appeared for them all season so far.

@number-10 Yeah, because he was with the Blues first, and now with the Highlanders. He's playing club rugby in the Otago comp, today.

@number-10 Only watching a bad stream, but is that Taradale squad indeed a lot bigger than Hastings'?

    Any stand-out players?

@stargazer Yes, Taradale did look to have a bigger forward pack. They were better across the park, even with conceding four yellow cards! Spent the last five minutes of each half with 13 men.

    Maddison Trophy round 1 - Sat 15 May 2021

    Hastings v Central
    Napier Tech v Clive
NOBM v Tamatea - streamed LIVE on https://sideline.live/play/14686
    MAC v Taradale

Not sure whether the HBRU is going to stream a game, now that sideline live is streaming a game.
It's $4.95 per game or $9.95 per month (all competitions), and I understand there will be season passes ($29.95) for some competitions (I hope Super 8).
