@kiwipie as you said inevitable Pre-season21/22 pundits picked us for the drop.
I don't see us coming straight back up this time. Lots of loan players, couple more who are to good for the championship. Not sure if Parker will stay. Not sure if I want him to TBH. That squad should have been good enough to stay up and he has to take a lot of the blame for the failure.
Yes there were extenuating circumstances; 3 week off season meant almost impossible to sign players plus Tony Khan spent up large two seasons ago (on shit players) which meant we were fucked under FFP so had no money to spend. All that meant we had a horror first two months but Parker did seem to turn it round and made us defensively very secure but we just couldn't score goals and for that Parker has to take the blame. His negative tactics seemed to work against the better teams but were totally unsuited for the dogfights we had to win. I can't be arsed looking it up but it feels like we only took a handful of points against the other relegation contenders. Why Parker played midfielders up front and left out Serbia's all time top goal scorer and the Championships Golden boot from last season I will never know.
Still two months ago we looked like we were going to kick on. Instead all those above us recovered form and the Fulham players seemed to give up the fight. Dunno if it was fatigue or Parker losing them or loan players looking to the next season or all three but very annoying to go out with a whimper. Cheltenham here we come....
@dogmeat Not nearly enough goals to win enough games. 25 in 35 games puts a heavy demand on the defence to keep clean sheets.
And the non-use of Mitrovic was a bit baffling, like Burnley make the best use of Chris Wood's qualities, you feel Fulham should have found a way to get the best out of Mitrovic. In recent games, Fulham have looked toothless - no real idea of how they will get a goal.

almost done... playoffs in the championship to decide who makes the last spot for EPL next year still open given Norwich and Watford already there. Brentford v Bournemouth and Swansea v Barnsley first games this weekend

It would be great to see Brentford get promoted after the heartbreak of last season, and also because Winston Reid is playing there.

@bayimports If Bournemouth do bounce straight back it will be the first time ever all three relegated clubs have escaped the Championship after only one season
@dogmeat given loss of some key players, change of coach (beginning of season and half way through season) and we have not shown any consistency over our last few, we are hardly favourites. But in playoffs anything can happen.

@canefan yes at end of last season (he stepped down) and then Tindall got the boot not too long ago and Jonathon Woodgate took over for remainder of the season

he was in talks with Celtic but not sure what came of it

Danjuma seems to have sparked them to life this season {checks online} 15 goals this season as a winger is pretty impressive. And even losing Wilson and Fraser (Dad's Army), they still have a squad full of talent. I really rate David Brooks and they missed his craft when he was injured for most of last season.
Well deserved title for City - once they sorted out their defensive structure, they have looked much more consistent that any other team in a season where strong teams have dropped games unexpectedly all season. The crammed fixture list was always likely to favour a team with strong replacements in every position.

Most of that time we were lurking at the bottom of league 2, hardly a great endorsement
Years ago when I lived in the UK for a year, it was the closest city (Poole didnt count) . So I supported locally.Both were losses, as was Josh King and Harry Wilson (we had his as a loan).. but we have won 7 from 10, as that reads better than lost last 2. Danjuma has been impressive and we have a very young team now. One of those teams taht when you get momentum, the heads are up, but as soon as you get behind it is hard to keep them focused. Still we are in with a shout.

Ajax have melted down their Eredivisie trophy into 42,000 silver stars and are giving one to every season ticket holder as they couldn't attend matches this season.
Yes its marketing but it's still pretty cool. Edwin van der Sar Ajax CEO (learned everything at Fulham) said "Previously when we said this title is for you we were expressing how we were doing it for the fans. However sharing the trophy is the ultimate proof that we really are".

It must have been a great ride as they ascended the pyramid to reach the premier league (and then survived). My sister is in Dorchester so I know the area fairly well. All the best for the play-offs but if you do come up, you're my favourites to go straight back down again!

It must have been a great ride as they ascended the pyramid to reach the premier league (and then survived). My sister is in Dorchester so I know the area fairly well.
