Seems to be something amiss at Rangiora HS this season. They got a hammering in pre season and now another from TBHS. I'm looking forward to the weekend after next with St Bedes playing Christ's and STAC vs CBHS.

Manukura are playing St Marys up in Palm Nth tomorrow. St Marys are probably not as strong as they have been in the past but we will know for sure tomorrow. Granddaughter (sort of) is playing but I will not be able to up to watch the match.

Wow, there was a bomb threat at St Peter's School (Cambridge), last night. Police are still going through the school area and all school sport has been cancelled.

It's been an eventful couple of days at St Peters, as the school has been in the news for other reasons too.

Seems to be the Canterbury/Crusaders pathway, get a head role job quickly, then move down levels to schools rugby.

Rangi and Razor’s career prospects are fucked.

    😁

I will try to watch the start of this game. Is that Taine's son as the captain and no.6? I think he is one of the Lindisfarne coaches.

@bovidae I have no idea whether Lanson is Taine's son, but it wouldn't surprise me.

This game could get ugly for Lindisfarne. I'll report back.

I had trouble logging into sideline live website and then it wouldn't stream in Chrome, so I only saw the last minutes of St Pat's Silverstream v Hastings Boys. Weird to see that the ref looked like he's still a schoolboy himself and the two assistant refs were players from both schools.

Hastings Boys destroyed St Pat's Stream (47 - 17), by the way.

Edited to add that it's apparently not unusual to have schoolboy-refs. Noticed the same in the St Paul's Collegiate v Lindisfarne game. I've never paid attention to it, so it's probably been like this for ages. 🙂

@Stargazer Yes, the refs do seem to be getting younger but I think they are recent school leavers rather than students.

I watched the 1st half of the St Paul's-Lindisfarne game. Not a great start for the visitors after stuffing up the kickoff reception resulting in an early St Paul's try. St Paul's led 26-12 at HT when I left playing with a strong wind. The Lindisfarne loosies look useful but the team a a whole made a lot of mistakes. What was the final score?

I went to the Hamilton BHS-MAGS game played on the no.2 field. As usual MAGS have a lot of big athletic PI players. It will be interesting to see how they go in the 1A competition. Their outside backs look slick.

If my maths is correct the final score was 43-27 to Ham BHS. They actually did better playing into the wind (HT: 31-17) but did use the opportunity to sub some of their best players in the 2nd half. Payton Spencer is playing at fullback and scored a couple of tries. He's taller than his father, who was in the crowd.

There's something seriously amiss out in Goon. So competitive the last couple of years but this year they're taking bigger poundings than Jenna Jamieson's shitter. Yesterday it was 75-0 vs Nelson (who to be fair may be the early frontrunner). But this is one helluva fall from grace. I can only assume they had benefited from an outstanding crop of players the last few years and didn't have a succession plan.
