Results preseason games Sun 11 April 2021:

    Napier Boys 1st XV 26 - 7 Wellington Coll 1st XV
    Napier Boys 2nd XV 19 - 12 Wellington 2nd XV
    Napier Boys 3rd XV 58 - 10 Te Aute 1st XV

    Lindisfarne Coll 1st XV 43 - 5 Manukura 1st XV

    Hastings Boys 1st XV 38 - 7 Feilding HS 1st XV
    Hastings Boys 2nd XV 41 - 7 Wairarapa College 1st XV

    St John's College, Hastings 26 - 45 Scots College

As @Bovidae said in the general school rugby thread, the Hastings Boys 1st XV game ended early because one of their players suffered a broken leg. I'm still trying to figure out who the players is. Possibly it's halfback Jehmial Ross, but not sure at all.

    Result:

    St Kevins College 21 - 26 St John's, Hastings

Not sure how much all these wins mean as the teams in CNI will be stronger, but at least they'll go into the competition with a bit of confidence.

Interesting to read this on the Whanganui Collegiate FB page:

2nd Day of Learning with the Hawkes Bay Coaching set up for the 1st XV Squad. The boys learned a lot of new Drills and Skills to take forward with them this season.

Is Whanganui our backyard now, instead of Manawatu's? That might explain why Godfrey ended up in our Academy and not theirs.

I'm a bit confused, but it looks like that Hastings Boys v St Kent's game isn't going ahead, unless I totally misread a post on the Lindisfarne instagram page and their 1st XV does play Hastings' 2nd XV, and their 2nd XV plays a Hastings 3rd XV (is there such a thing?):

lindisfarnecollege: The rugby season kicks off tomorrow and all 6 Lindisfarne teams will be playing against Hastings Boys High School on the HBHS fields.

    9.30am - Grade F, E & D
    10.45am - U15 & 2nd XV
    12pm - 1st XV

This post on their FB page clearly say that their 1st XV is playing Hastings Boys 2nd XV 🤔

    Lindisfarne College 1st XV

@stargazer Oh dear, looks like the financial controller for the home side (St. Ks) will have to come up with some more scholarship money!

Hastings Boys' High School cross for this try from halfway in their 45-17 win over St Pat's Silverstream at Porirua Park this past Saturday. This extended a 19-7 halftime lead to 26-7. Some good work...

@higgins I think it's because they can't handle playing two Hawke's Bay Super 8 schools in one week! They play Napier Boys on Wednesday 26th (at home).

@stargazer They could rotate their team with some of the better 2nd XV players. Oh wait, they don't have a competitive 2nd XV!

Napier Boys have claimed another Wellington scalp. They beat St Pat's Town 29 -19.

In the CNI, Lindisfarne got a good win over Wesley College: 20 - 12.

Unsurprisingly, St John's lost to Feilding HS: 12 - 22. Not as bad as last year, when they lost 0 - 38.

@stargazer I was certainly there in spirit but come Saturday late morning/early afternoon I am pressed into service at my whangai's cafe as he and his wife watch their daughter play for Ories from 11.30 onward. They are staunch practicing Catholics so I am smugly enjoying this result!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Today's CNI games:

St John's Hastings just got hammered by St John's Hamilton (12 - 57). Not really a surprise.

I'm now watching Lindisfarne College v Feilding HS via https://sideline.live/play/14601

    Lindisfarne line-up:

    1. Jack Hamilton
    2. Kingshouse Tupuala
    3. Jasper Wallace
    4. Tom Druzianic
    5. Patrick Tuifua
    6. Lanson Randell
    7. Tino Savea
    8. Tams Heather
    9. Quinn Stevens
    10. Monte Timu
    11. Charlie Roil
    12. Tuawhio Porima
    13. Taylor Topp
    14. Grayson Hesketh
    15. Matawhero Wakefield Sciascia
    16. Bruno Wylie
    17. Hugh Kilsby
    18. Jonty Good
    19. Jonty Roil
    20. George Newman
    21. Tom Goodisson

I don't know whether openside Tino Savea is related to Jules and Ardie, but he's a strong unit, who just scored a good try.

Bad high tackle on a Lindisfarne player now leading to lots of handbags ...

Both captains get a stern talk from the ref and Feilding's openside cops a yellow. That could have been more.

Lindisfarne's hooker loves a driving maul. He's rewarded with a try, although it took the ref almost 10 seconds to see what you could easily see on screen: the hooker holding the ball firmly on the line.
