Coffee

My Jewish and Scottish ancestry is loving the fact I prefer plunger coffee to any other after reading how much some of you are spending on your fancy machines.
$5 K Mart plunger once or twice every few years (the twice is when I smash it on the tap by being unco).
I can't bring myself to buy a fancy machine. And I don't want to go Nespresso. I alternate between an aeropress and a power operated mocka pot. The pot is pretty consistent but it is not espresso
Even that sounds too fancy for this peasant.

Sort of a French press on roids
...are you sure that isn't a pump you thought might increase the size of something?

@canefan im thesame .use mocka pot everyday. like because it is a different flavor and i dont recon i could make decent expesso. trick i found for me was buying the darkest beans and getting grind right
As few variables as possible works for me

Italian made too. The Brevilles and De'Longhi tend to be made in China.
It shows in the long run. I have a Gaggia titanium, the thing is nearly 20 years old and been in to be fixed once.
I also have a DeLonghi. 5 years old, been to the repair shop 3 times.
The Gaggia also makes better coffee. Love that machine, although it cost more than any car I had owned at that time (says more about my cars than the Gaggia, but it wasn't cheap). Paid for itself many times over - I don't buy coffee from shops often because it is so good.

So this is what I’ve got
And this is it reviewed by a bona fide coffee wank

He does say it looks beautiful though.....

So here's mine. We've had it well over 20 years now and it's never given us any trouble.

I'd rather be a Tahs fan right now than a Rebels fan.
Tahs have a lot of young talent.
Rebels have ?
Better coffee.
I think that is the biggest myth perpetuated in Australia.

Not at all, I just think Melbourne coffee is hugely overrated.
Unlike the restaurants which are awesome.

@nepia there's some good coffee in Wellington. And Adelaide. And Sydney-although then you have to deal with inner city Sydney types..
But to diss Melbourne coffee as "is the biggest myth perpetuated in Australia" is not to know Australia (let alone its politics).. -

Just because you have cafes run by mafia looking people doesn't mean the coffee is any good.

I think you'll find they have very nice houses in Kew and Brighton and actually run Carlton restaurants a block from the University of Melbourne.
As to mafia-looking, I could not wear my black leather jacket in Leichhardt Sydney (when I lived there, back when it actually made good Italian coffee) because everyone looked at me with fear in their eyes..
