@victor-meldrew I think I got about half an hour into Jojo and gave up, it just didn't grab me. Might have to give it another bash since everyone rates it so highly.

I'm kinda with you, but stuck it out. Was decent, but the humour didn't float my boat too much. Guess we're out on our own on the unpopular opinion front 🙂

Since this is a movie review thread, I'll shout out to the combo of Free Solo followed by Dawn Wall. Both truly remarkable films, fundamentally different, and incredible character studies of interesting human beings. Dawn Wall -- you think yuo' know what you're watching, and then 'record scratch' .... seriously great double bill.

Edit: obviously both heavy climbing films, but very accessible to someone who only climbs off the couch to get another beer

Army of the dead. Snyder wins again. Excellent bit of pulpy escapism. I think Batista may be he best acting wrestler.

I started that last night, looks terrific so far but as I was falling asleep on the couch I might have to finish the rest tonight.

Agree about Bautista, he’s an even better actor than Rowdy Roddy Piper was ! I just think down the line it might be hard to take him seriously as anything more than a jacked up ex wrestler. For a huge scary looking fucker he does vulnerable quite well though I have to say.

That’s when I just about switched off funnily enough but I got persuaded to watch it all and wasn’t disappointed. It gets better the more “serious” it gets if that makes sense.

    @Bones

Yup, same, same. I made it through, but barely sniggered really. Well down on the list of my favourite films of his

And I'll second the climbing doco recommendations above. Free Solo is one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

Did you see him in that light entertainment My Spy movie? Has some good comedy chops as well.

No but he was good ( briefly ) in the recent Blade Runner flick

It's better to avoid Bushwick if you are a Bautista fan.

And Final Score, utterly terrible movie and his "acting" in this movie was poor at best.

Also in the same movie, Pierce Brosnan does a Bruce Willis and just mails it in.

1 out of 5 for this POS

Was pretty fun. Batista is pretty damn good actor, does this stuff better than even someone like Bruce Willis. When Bruce cried in Armageddon audiences straight up laughed, in this movie Batista nails the emotional scenes.

Apparently he’s trying to get a Gears of War movie off the ground. Perfect casting.

I think Bruce, John Travolta and ( especially ) Liam Neeson are living proof you can regress as an actor. Look at how amazing the latter was in Schindlers List ( complete with amazing emotional scenes ) compared to the “dial it in, ex agent with special secret skills” shit he churns out now.

He's got this vulnerability about him. It's pretty amazing that someone so big can convey real helplessness.

@MN5 Bruce has been dialling it in for 2 decades.

Liam hasn't been the same since his wife died. Not that his acting ability has suffered. Just doesn't seem to give a shit. He knows his pay cheques write themselves as a cold, stone faced secret agent.

    Taken 9...

(spoken in deep, dark ominous voice)

"First they came for his daughter, then his wife and friends. But this time Bryan Mills faces the biggest test of his life, this time it's his cockatoo his enemies have kidnapped... "

And he has comedy timing, which could be hardest to pull off of the lot.

I've just finished watching this. Not as good as I was expecting based on the trailer but that is usually the situation. Still fun. As with most of Snyder's movies he doesn't like the editing room.

I think Bruce Willis is really underrated as an actor. He's incredibly versatile and consistently good - considering the stuff he's done, there's very few turkeys.

He's really good at comedy (Red, Death Becomes Her), top notch at action stuff (Die Hard),sensitive stuff (Sixth Sense) & can do really complex roles incredibly well (Pulp Fiction).

Not saying he's the greatest actor who ever lived, but he's pretty damn good across a whole range of roles and doesn't get the credit he deserves.

whether it be a case of too many exes or kids and he needs the cash, in the last few years Bruce has ruined his reputation for participating in many D grade efforts. I would even suggest that if the sharknado series was still continuing he would have volunteered 🙂

I do like his previous efforts, just more like he has lost his way..gems like Trauma Centre, Survive the night etc etc...were not good!

@victor-meldrew your looking at the stuff he WAS known for. For the last 10 odd years he's being doing straight video stuff. He's has the odd but like Looper. But then it's absolute shit. I'm mean Steven Seagal type shit. I'm mean in that preview I just posted the villain was called the Pardoner ffs 😂

And don't get me wrong. The greatest Xmas movie ever made is Die Hard. I love that shit up until the 3rd one. He's excellent in Pulp Fiction and I unfortunately have a guilty pleasure in that absolute shit show The Hudson Hawk.

But even Sylvester Stallone had a gripe with Willis effort during the Expendables series.
