What I’m about to say is gonna be with all the expertise of someone watching a live feed on cricinfo but I hope Nicholls gets the Geoff Boycott like strike rate improving a bit today, scoring at 30 per hundred balls seems a bit old fashioned !

Nicholls saw us through what could (potentially) have been a shit storm of a second session and ably supported Conway. I am happy if he continues in the same vein in the morning and sees off the second new ball.

Nicholl's job is to stay around in support of Conway and be ready to take over the key scoring role while Watling gets settled. Let's just tag team along and take England out of the game.
