Nisbo was commentating tv for TVNZ at least 1986 tour to France, Battle of Nantes. 1984 tour of Australia he was radio comms. So, switched to tv somewhere between then.
Wiki says that Nisbett's first TVNZ commentary was the ABs vs France from Chch in 1984. I remember when both he and Quinn were both involved in the late 1980s. Add in McBeth too, who also came over from radio. So did TJ, whose radio commentary I remember well when Waikato beat Auckland to win the RS in 1993.
Yes, actually 1984 was his first AB tour as primary TV comms, after having been radio before that (but secondary to John Howson). Funny what you remember or half remember as a kid. I think I had a lift out or something for the tour from a Rugby News I must have read a few times.

Otago vs Lions 1993 Those star Otago backs and loosies, and their journeymen veteran and misfit tight forwards playing above themselves

Canterbury NPC final 1997 The Cookie
Time GameEngland vs Samoa RWC 2003, Melbourne. Samoa looked likely for a while and you wouldn't have thought there was a Pom in the house.
All Blacks vs Wallabies, Sydney 2001, 2009 & 2012 Any win in Sydney is gold so the latter two games made up for the heartbreak of the former.
I recall it was absolutely pissing down for Otago v Boks in 1994, but went along (seeing it was a week day and we got to get out of school early). Still one of my favourite footy memories.
How about that early morning crowd above the 2-4 for the 2007 RWC quarter final??

I've been in a few at Lancaster Park - Black Caps vs Pakistan at WC 92, Canterbury vs Wellington Shell Cup Final 91-92 season (one day cricket domestic competition), NPC final 1997, the first Ranfurly Shield defense in 1994 (David Latta...) all come to mind.
For non-stadium crowds, was in a large hall watching the 1998 Super 12 final and there was some serious noise when James Kerr scored the winning try. The other one was Richmond Working Men's Club for the Canterbury-Wellington Ranfurly Shield defense in 2001 as the crowd was cheering the lads all the way even when they were down 12 points with 10 minutes to play, and they were rewarded for their faith with two tries including Ben Blair scoring the winning try off a scrum move in the last minute. A might roar from the crowd, a round of free drinks from the club, a pat on the back for Wellington supporters and a "hard luck fellas", and a great afternoon.

The "dot ball, Petrie" chant, Gavin Larsen batting with one arm, and the infamous boundary catch from Peter Kennedy (was that his name?), who almost missed it entirely because he was busy chatting up a bird in the crowd / signing autographs. Epic.

I didn't realise it, but apparently Astle played, albeit didn't do much batting at 10 (unlike future seasons when he often dominated matches opening...). Larsen was a seriously good ODI player back then. Just line and length, dibbly dobbler ... great in short form, not so good in tests. Super gutsy that day

god even i remember that cricket game. the Shell Cup used to be pretty great. Went to heaps of ND games at Blake Park.
