Northern Soul legend Dean Parrish aged 78. Also known (real name) as Phil Anastasia.
A native New Yorker, he was apparently unaware of his cult status in the UK with songs like this
Also worked as a session muso with Hendrix, Santana and Bob Marley in the early 70s.
Was recording still right up to last year for Acid Jazz

@nostrildamus said in RIP 2021:
John Clarke is/was the best you motherf....s!!
He was no Billy T...
Holy Shit no, he was a real one trick pony compared to BTJ
Clarke had a truly distinctive singing voice.
I’ve forgotten who we were talking about sorry.

Wow, I always thought Stephen Spielberg directed the Goonies.
Nevertheless that’s a pretty solid body of work, as @Virgil says it was an absolutely Golden era and he was a huge part of that.
Speilberg was often Executive Producer, pretty much he either directed or was EP with alot of the better movies in the 80's.
They had his style, Gremlins was another. -

To add to your earlier point it was a brilliant era of movies, back when ideas were new and fresh. What do we have now ? Star Wars material of inconsistent quality, Neeson, Willis, Travolta and Cage cashing cheques for any old shit, Fast and Furious NINE ?!?! ( I’ve never seen any of these ) and Harrison Ford about to make a FIFTH Indiana Jones which I’m sure will be dire……..
I’m really, REALLY pinning a lot of hope on Dune being awesome.
I should cut and paste this for the GOM thread.
