Good game. King's had their chances, and arguably scored the match winning try, but ultimately just didn't take their chances.

Wow, four result in the MC as expected with the combines sides all getting pumped, but then two boil overs with CBHS losing to St Thomas's and the girl's names beating STAC. That's both of last year's finalists. In their televised game, SBHS and STCC both looked like quality sides but with the proviso that it's hard to know so early in the season. Both had since had largely unchallenging runs but these two results stamp them as genuine contenders this year thats for sure.

@daffy-jaffy I watched the last 10 mins of the game live so saw the post-match. The entrances were much better.

@bovidae It was a good game, quite even with RBHS knowing their strengths and playing to them. HBHS vever quite got going although they threatened to at times. I would have liked to see Payton play, maybe next time.I thought the ref was fine...

@oleoleole There is a history with Botherway as ref. He has a habit of finding penalties from nowhere and ignoring the most obvious infringements right under his nose. Take the last lineout where RBHS got their penalty. The hooker did a double-baulk before throwing the ball in.

@bovidae ok, I didnt notice the RBHS hooker at that lineout so can't give much on that, but thought the penalty against Hamilton was fair....as mentioned I didn't mind the ref in that game...although I have no affiliation to either team. Seems you have some history there

Here are the rules for the Moascar Cup.
Main points:
- It is required that a school holding the Moascar Cup at the start of any calendar year, advises the Moascar Cup Coordinator by 1 March, a minimum of seven scheduled challenge matches for that year; noting that:
at least one of those, of the holder’s choice, shall be against a team from outside of the holder’s Provincial Union, as those boundaries exist at the time. - The seven challenges must include all home matches played by the holder. In the event that the holder does not have the required number of home matches, they will need to choose a seventh match from their schedule that fits the criteria of Rules 9 and 10.
- If the school holding the Moascar Cup is a participant in the NZSRU National Top 4 or Coed Championship, then the Moascar Cup shall be played for in all games involving the holder.

So Hamilton and Hastings are the two unbeaten teams so far (4-0), New Plymouth and Rotorua the next two best performing (2-2), Gisborne the only team without a win, and not likely to get one from the looks of it.

@bovidae Yeah, it's a pity that they don't update website. The "club rugby" website has the initial draw (as released), but they never update the actual dates and k/o times when they have changed. They have points table, but I haven't checked whether it's correct (esp bonus points). And no 2nd XV.
