One of the more boring Origins you will ever watch.

Qld are absolutely awful. And NSW didn't even bother getting out of 2nd gear. Bit.of low level grub acts and some pushing all we had to show for it. Oh and as good a rugby try as you will ever see called back for a rule I didn't even know.

Not a single Qld player beat his opponent. And there were guys I didn't even know played. I saw fifita in the handshakes?? I don't recall hearing his name once. I thought he was out.

At least in game 1 we got to see NSW in full flight. This had nothing.

What are the TV ratings for SOO like these days? Probably not so high in Qld right now. 🤣

I haven't given a toss about watching it this century.

Don't know about TV ratings, but anecdotally, calls for service at work drop right off while the game is on and pick up again straight after. This suggests to me plenty of people are still watching it (in Brisbane at least).

On sober reflection, Qld are fucked for the foreseeable future. NSW are winning these games because they are faster than Qld. They have pace and power everywhere out wide. The NSW forwards are just doing basic shit through the middle (although a couple of ball playing forwards does help), they have Tedesco sniffing around the middle dragging defenders in, and then it's a shift, and one of those big fast fuckers gets outside his man and it's over. The additional pace helps them on defense as well (also helped by Qld throwing fuck all at them)

Qld actually did create opportunities down the left, but most of them died with Capewell because he is a 2nd rower stuck at centre and is too fucking slow. Also it appears he cannot pass. Holmes isn't quick enough (or good enough), Feldt is 2-3 years past his best, and was never quick to begin with.

Qld are also poorly coached, find a game plan hat suits your players, or pick players for a game plan. What they have at the moment is just nothing.

NSW are going to win Game 3 by a similar margin, and they are going to set all sorts of margin records in a series where they probably won't even get a home game.

Qld won for 8 years in a row due to a once in a generation type of players in the spine. While some of NSW may get to that level in the future (I dont think you could say that of them now), there is definitely a gulf in class in whats out there now.

Also interesting to hear Munster saying at halftime, that he was calling plays but the players were not responding. Thats a lack of communication, or even respect even within their own squad, seriously WTF.

An abysmal performance by Queensland. They need to make some serious changes for game three.

The biggest problem I saw (defence wise) was how static the line was. NSW was making 10 meters plus before even meeting the opposition. And then on defence the Blues were rushing up to put pressure on the halfs and ball players. That is were the fullback needs to come up and inject himself into the line to show another threat. Valentine just didn't do that

So Aitken and Curran wont play for R16 and 17 because they were on a plane where the flight attendant got Covid so are doing a 14 days stint, however DWZ and Chad likely to be named to start.

Nathan Cleary until further scans are done could have a season ending injury on his shoulder..Panthers get their first real injury scare for the season

This won't please some people, but the Warriors have signed Matt Lodge.

The positive part is the Broncos will pay a significant portion of the contract for the next 2 and a half years.

Ah good, that helps me breakaway from the shit show of a team, and after I was kind of happy they got SJ back too.

@dice Kevin Campion has come out and said its a mistake to sign him and it will not help the team culture. It was really cool that he describe the warriors as "us". Not a cowboy or bronco, Kev's a warrior.

News Corp understands the Broncos will pay up to $1 million of Lodge’s salary over the coming years.

While I don't agree with signing him on grounds that do not relate to playing, he is actually a decent prop. Although we were not in massive trouble in this position, definitely useful in the rotation and with the broncos still paying for most of it, could be useful. I also imagine since he and TPJ were both were on the outer, both would want a change of culture for their own headspace. Lets see, could be playing against the sharks..

As a player, he's not bad. He's averaging 129 metres and 25 tackles. He's also first among all props for tackle busts and 2nd for offloads. Over the last 4 games, he's averaged 162m.

I don't think he'll be too much trouble initially, because he's the new kid and won't want to rock the boat. We'll see how it goes from next year and beyond though.

    He's played okay this year.

If I put aside has shady off field shit, he's been a vocal agitator at Brisbane. How is it going to go when he's a rotation guy at the Warriors?

he has also been playing 55-75 minutes last four weeks which is a lot for a prop, it could really help in our rotations

Melbourne seeing off the new ball attack of the Roosters with ease. 30/0 after the first half hour.

Perfect description. They were under the pump and then a first tackle kick try and it's been brutal since then.

@mariner4life I'd like to think that players like Harris will pull him into line.

The warriors get a lot of stick for their "culture". But to be honest over the last few years we seem to be one of the best teams to keep out of the trouble off the pitch. So long as you don't include international drug rings..

Since RTS was made captain the team has been consistent with their completion, more complete and although they generally aren't there at the business end, there's nothing really too bad about the team. Just need a consistent halves paring and once we've sorted out the pack, Fonua-Blake at full health, Harris and now lodge make for a pretty strong back bone.
