First the scientific community needs to work out what "consciousness" actually is.

It's the biggest question facing modern science according to many.

So you have a snapped spine? No biggie chip in your brain will send the signal to your limb chip via wifi. I guess the next step after that is the just stick a chip in your spine below the break.

If you want reliable technology then you have to invest. You can build systems that are up 100% of the time if you're willing to invest big bucks, which no people/businesses are.

We just need to cripple some rich folks, Parkinsons moved on hugely once Michael J Fox got it. Christopher Reeve probably did more for stem cells than most scientists. Lets get together & paralyse Ronaldo. For science obv.

    Haha yes just a bit.

I can't face being an old person who is out of touch with new tech. Simple solution- freeze things where we are now and we're laughing.

Except maybe if you're paraplegic.

I wonder if this would have an effect on people suffering from MS? Being able to bypass the nervous system all together?

Maybe if we go back four or five ... or ten years I'd have a hope of keeping up

Might help some but MS isn't just a case of by-passing one circuit break its potentially replacing the whole system and that sounds like a massive step onward from this.

GE is more likely to offer hope.

Yeah MS and MND (ALS) and all that nerve-level shit would require a full body shell, and doesn't address the eventual cause of death: failure of organs in MND patients and loss of mobility or mental impairment in MS.

Ideally, pre-natal screening and treatment would head a lot of that off.
