Anthony Hopkins wasn't too horrendous in the World's Fastest Indian. And apparently reviews said Keira Knightley did ok in the Everest movie.

The Woman in Gold. Austrian lady trying to get back paintings stolen from her family by the Nazis. Helen Mirren great as usual. Ryan Reynolds so-so. Katie Holmes cannot act, how the fuck she keeps getting parts, I don't know. Luckily her role was fairly minor.

Hers was ok, but there were a couple of absolutely shocking ones in that, that hers was spot on by comparison.

Took the boy to this and agree, visually spectacular. Incredible that the only "real" thing in the movie is the boy, amazing what they can do with CGI nowadays.

Hall Pass.

WTAF. Allegedly a comedy and yet no funny moments. The makeup artist needed to be fired for the fake tan hue some of the cast were subjected to. And as for some of the fucked up supporting characters (coffee shop worker should be in a pysch ward), just no.

Random cock shots (big black, tiny Irish) and some small, leather-brown tits on show. This did not improve anything.

Couple of Netflix movies on a recent rainy Sydney day:

Lockout (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockout_(film))

Luc Besson directed piece starring Guy Pearce as wisecracking anti-hero style ex-CIA agent in the near sci-fi future. Due to various idiocy, the President's Daughter ends up on an orbiting Maximum Security prison. He's been convicted of a crime he didn't commit, has to save her etc. I thought it was OK. Couple of laughs, some Euro-style violence, and some completely inexplicable actions by the protagonists. But explosions.

Carried mostly by Pearce and the chick from Lost/Taken (she really has an issue with staying safe).

3 guys blown out an airlock out of 5.

Total Recall (remake)

This had just arrived on Netflix and I heard a lot of bad things about it. Actually, I didn't mind it. Not sure why the didn't just leave Farrell with an Irish accent, given the global nature of the entire thing. Lack of Mars was of course a thing, but also the nods to the original movie were great, along with the quality of the Jessica Biel. Just a quick reminder:

Anyway, explosions, Australia being referred to as a "Colony", and the tech stuff were pretty cool.

3.5 Jessica Biels out of 5.

EDIT: I'm actually disappointed that no-one has really done the Philip K Dick novel properly.

It's just a short story, and a thin one at that. The Verhoeven film was as good as you could hope for.
