Couple of Netflix movies on a recent rainy Sydney day:

Lockout (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockout_(film))

Luc Besson directed piece starring Guy Pearce as wisecracking anti-hero style ex-CIA agent in the near sci-fi future. Due to various idiocy, the President's Daughter ends up on an orbiting Maximum Security prison. He's been convicted of a crime he didn't commit, has to save her etc. I thought it was OK. Couple of laughs, some Euro-style violence, and some completely inexplicable actions by the protagonists. But explosions.

Carried mostly by Pearce and the chick from Lost/Taken (she really has an issue with staying safe).

3 guys blown out an airlock out of 5.

Total Recall (remake)

This had just arrived on Netflix and I heard a lot of bad things about it. Actually, I didn't mind it. Not sure why the didn't just leave Farrell with an Irish accent, given the global nature of the entire thing. Lack of Mars was of course a thing, but also the nods to the original movie were great, along with the quality of the Jessica Biel. Just a quick reminder:

Anyway, explosions, Australia being referred to as a "Colony", and the tech stuff were pretty cool.

3.5 Jessica Biels out of 5.

EDIT: I'm actually disappointed that no-one has really done the Philip K Dick novel properly.

It's just a short story, and a thin one at that. The Verhoeven film was as good as you could hope for.

Beil never put on a tight leather outfit and shot werewolves, I'm afraid this gives Ms Beckisdale the edge.

If Kate is gonna take that off in front of you, why would you be rushing? Savour the build up for as long as possible.....

Phew, that was close. I've heard about that movie , watching it is more terrifying than the original version of the thing and will leave you fucked up for longer afterwards.

Biel was definitely the ONLY good thing in that fucken horrific Sandler movie, "Hey Adam, lets do a movie in which you pretend you're gay the whole time when in actual fact you're not....."

HILARIOUS.......

I find it quite bizarre that a small fuck up like that can ruin a career. Voters and donors have such a bizarre double standard on these things. We all know the vast majority of politicians are duplicitous twats, but we ignore it. Then one does something pretty trivial and he/she has to go.
