And this in FB as well - thought it isn't "awesome" but a pretty concerning bit of footage.

The guy in the vid is a Greens MP in NSW, and he was on the trail of the Coal Seam Gas (fracking) miners. The issue was first noticed back in 2012 but very little has been done about it.

Ignoring why some spastic Green is well out of his constituency in another State, it's perfectly natural and has been happening for decades according to locals.

The response from Origin Energy was:
“Origin's nearest gas well infrastructure comprises four pilot wells one kilometre away from the occurrence.
“These wells have never been brought into operation, have never produced gas and have never been fracture stimulated.”

Also, the CSIRO have backed Origin's position, saying the gas bubbles were not related to mining in the area.

"The methane that is bubbling to the surface is like many other deposits around that world that have coal in them and it's finding its way through natural cracks and fissures to the surface through the Condamine River, said Professor Damian Barrett, research director of the CSIRO Onshore Gas Program.

And what do the Greens think of this scientist clearing up the issue? "I just don't believe it. I just don't trust what the CSIRO is saying" Apparently science is infallible only when it agrees with your ideology.

Fair enough if that's the case here.

However, the practice is still highly controversial, with linked issues to health, and localised environmental damage, including most importantly the effect on groundwater levels and quality. Further, the use of water in the process is environmentally questionable when you're talking about the driest continent on earth.

If tight enough regulation is put around it, perhaps it can proceed, but there are a lot of governments still not willing to proceed due to environmental and health risks.

It has certainly changed the landscape for the USA, where they've turned around their resources imports using domestic gas from fracking, but there are enough issues to warrant further investigation.

How incredible... a Green MP makes up some bullshit and it spreads like wildfire on social media.

The environmentalist bullshit over fracking is off the scale.

Funny how the Greens trust science with climate change but not fracking.

I read that in the weekend, I'd love to see that sort of writing in our magazines or papers

    Yeah thanks Antipodean

It joins a lot dots. Always wondered why he had such chronic injuries that no other golfer seemed to have

A bit of a pattern, you deny someone a normal social childhood and adolescence and things often get weird later

Fascinating article, but I wonder what Tiger would make of it if he read it. I suspect he might spend a bit of time going, "WTF"? :)

I remember reading somewhere, some guy asserting point blank that, "Everyone wants to be famous". I reckon that's miles from the truth - I suspect much of it would be bloody awful.

Thats what clarkson said, fame over fortune - never heard anytihng so ridiculous. Being rich is good all the time, being famous is awful all the time. Or something like that.

I would hate to he famous. I'd end up in a bar somewhere with Jesse Ryder drinking to escape reality.

It doesn't take much to be famous these days, one thoughtless tweet and the permenantly outraged will be after you.
