Highlanders 2022

I thought ricky jackson looked good on the weekend and with Coltman out for a while he should get a good run of starts to really see what he has. If he can lock down the second spot with coltman we may be looking for a third choice which could change the type of guy we're looking for

I really hope they bring Freedom Vahaakolo back in. My only concern with him is when he receives kicks. Sometimes he doesn't attack the ball like you'd expect.
In the loose I'd much prefer we push Sean Withy than Funaki from Hawke's Bay. Withy is young and has plenty of potential. He is a long-term Highlander. I wouldn't mind see Charles Alaimalo get a gig. There's plenty of potential there.
The third hooking spot, I'm fascinating by. It could be anyone.

I probably imagined it, but wasn't there some talk about the Chiefs not signing up all of the three current hookers for next year?

I think that was around the Tyrone Thompson rumour. If he has signed then Harris would be surplus to requirements. I was at Chiefs HQ today so maybe I should have asked.

are they looking at Gilbert as a 3rd choice 10? he played one of the preseason halves for otago at 10
there is also Koroi, he's going to get a lot of practice for otago (assuming the NPC starts again)

@duluth agreed and expect him to come in but two years ago we had hunt, gatland and ioane and all of them quite young

Marty Banks has saved the Highlanders and Sam Gilbert from having to strip at 10.
He's back for a third stint with the club.
