    @tim

    It's kind of ugly but the specs are great considering it doesn't have to push a high resolution. I'll probably get one

    The LPDDR5 memory is quad channel (128 bit).

    Although not for user replacement, the HDD is replaceable, so maybe I will buy the cheaper model and upgrade it

    Righto nerds, I just grabbed an HP Omen on discount ($600 markdown) and once I finish setting it up I'm keen.

    Last game I really snagged was Witcher III and a bit of COD. My previous laptop was 6 years old so it was doing ok.

    What's good?

    @nta I've played that a fair bit over the last year. Stellaris is fun, but can get a bit too into micro-management.

    Recently beat it on King mode - first getting a fairly easily diplomatic culture victory as Greece (Dude Greece, not Chick Greece) and then managed a King Science win as Tomyris. I just let the random leader thing spin and see what happens.

    I'm going from i7-4720HQ to i7-10750H. Graphics from GeForce 840M (4GB DDR3) to GeForce RTX2070 (8GB DDR6).

    It is a new world...

    Jesus fuck I loaded up Witcher 3 on this new box and the lighting quality is nothing short of astonishing.

    Even the boy - who rubbished my old laptop in favour of his PS4 - shut up for a second to admire it.

    For those who like problem solving, I should have mentioned Frostpunk was free to play over the weekend.

    i just spent $30 and bought a re-mastered version of Command & Conquer, and Command & Conquer: Red Alert

    The days i burned playing those in Uni. I bought them to show the kids. The youngest thinks it's great. It's still cracking fun. The sound of a Tesla Coil frying infantry always cracks me up
