Am I the only one here that thinks Synder is great visually but isn't a directors arsehole?

I've regularly commented on my dislike of Snyder's directing - the last film of his I truly liked was 300. I didn't want to be the first to comment and incur @Kirwan's wraith in this thread. 😉

I haven't heard any of these rumours yet (I'm about two weeks behind on the Fatman Beyond podcast but I'm sure they'll discuss this). Keaton coming back to the franchise will be good.

It's all subjective. Plenty dislike JJ Abrams style too, and Tarantino. At least when directors have a distinctive style you know what you are in for, and it's easy to avoid if you don't like it.

Smith is LOVING the news 🙂

Oh definitely, I love Tarantino, mostly like JJ (most recent Star Wars definitely excluded) and pretty much dislike all of Snyders superhero movies, which is disappointing because I want to see good Batman and Superman. I'm looking forward to the Robert Pattinson one although I think it's going to be another more 'adult' version however it looks interesting.

Did you like the Planet of the Apes movies?

Reeves, who is doing the new Batman movie. So imagine the style will be different, but those movies were well made.

The Suicide Squad. Not seen the (small t) Suicide Squad, but the Drinker Recommends The (new) Suicide Squad for some dumb fun, so I will catch this when it hits online

    Yeah, just watched it.
    Stupid dumb fun.
Lots of ridiculous violence, over-the-top blood, dumb jokes.
I'm going to use the word "dumb" a lot in trying to explain this movie... but it's an affectionate "dumb".

The only times it felt a bit forced, or just plain bad/boring, was when it tried to get a little serious. I can imagine that if there was no serious shit, it would get panned as "no character building, no story arcs, no emotional attachment to any characters"... but yeah, every time they tried for any of that, it was just... "yeah, fuck that, just get back to senseless comedic violence".
Even the "this violence has real consequences, or at least, emotional consequences for the characters" - was just... nah, fuck off. I for once wanted the "serious shit, followed by throwaway gag"... and I never want that.

    Also - tit-watch: zero.

    Overall: 4 reasonable visual-violence-gags out of 5 yeah-that-shark-is-going-to-become-an-icon-for-stupid-people.

That final upside down shot was utterly brilliant. The key to Batman is other characters being scared of him, perfect.

Looks like they are delivering on the Batman as a detective as they promised. And crucially looks like a different take than normal.

@kirwan really? is that confirmed? i know the flash movie is coming and actually looks good and dont have as much of a problem as they're using existing Batmen in it and actually trying to tie together some of the different batmen...batmans...batmanie, keaton's batman voice over for the teaser

is it two more pattinson batman movies?

Keaten is a main character (he's in the Flash preview trailer too, back of the head only). Batffleck is in there too.

This is just a guess, but since they are doing Flashpoint but I expect Thomas Wayne's Batman as well, so Jeffrey Dean Morgan too. Depends if they stick to the comics, then you get Martha as the Joker too.

@kirwan yeah, thats what i expected and i like that

i was more mean rebooting yet again with a new actor, ive had six different cinematic batmen in my live with four different universes, its too much

Its just a pity they didnt manage to lock in batfleck for 6 movie deals like the marvel big 6 and thank god them have managed to bring him back for flash to try and salvage some sort of continuity in the EU

is Jeffrey Dean Morgan Thomas Wayne's Batman a thing, thought it was just fan casting

Martha as the joker? i didnt know about that one, there are definitely clowns in that trailer but i hadn;t heard about the joker being in this one, maybe a teaser/reveal at the end for a sequel?

Same for Spiderman, at least they stopped killing Uncle Ben each time!

Affleck apparently had a great script but his friends were telling him if he wrote, starred and directed it he would end up killing himself. Now that he has sorted out his alcoholism again, he might be up for doing more.

With the multiverse stuff there is no reason we can't have three of these guys running around. Just like the comics.

Patterson is supposed to get two more. Apparantly he's pissed about Keaton though.

It was the Synder grand plan, so may not happen, just a guess. It's why he cast two good actors in a small role, and part of the original Flash plan. It's been rewritten so many times now, who knows.

definitely, im just glad they're actually addressing it and explaining on screen rather than just saying there is a multiverse in press conferences as it kind of just look like an excuse for why they keep rebooting things
