For those who like problem solving, I should have mentioned Frostpunk was free to play over the weekend.

@antipodean ive been on a bit of a point and click, puzzle solving games phase over the last year or so....might finally have accepted im not smart enough, the last one i was looking up walkthroughs all over the place
was fun for a while

i just spent $30 and bought a re-mastered version of Command & Conquer, and Command & Conquer: Red Alert
The days i burned playing those in Uni. I bought them to show the kids. The youngest thinks it's great. It's still cracking fun. The sound of a Tesla Coil frying infantry always cracks me up

@machpants Any of the old ones worth playing now?
Rugby Challenge 3 is probably the best recently, but I'm not an expert. Not cheap but at least available on STEAM
I play it on Playstation, like any rugby game some of the game play is shitty, but you can create players and build teams so when I have a quiet weekend I'll make a few players for the Magpies etc. One good thing is you get to select the ABs from the entire amount of NZ players available.
I also play the last league game, which is kid of annoying game playwise as well, but I started a career with the Warriors/Kiwis in 2014 and I'm not at 2040 odd. It just creates new players which is funny as it tends not to follow ethnicity very well, so the current Samoan team is mostly white with a redhead halfback. One bad thing is you don't get to select the Kiwis squad. They assign it for you.
By play, I usually only play a game or two a night while my dinner os cooking.
If you can pick them up cheap then they're fun but I wouldn't pay real money for them these days.

Rugby08 still has a huge modding community, keeping players/squads/kits etc up to date, lots of people still say its the best rugby game
i bought Rugby Challenge 4 last year, was fun but still way glitchier than i would have expected and annoying things like there is a NPC but they didn't get the licences do theyre all generic players/kits etc...but they did get most super teams....so if i create a player...i can play for off brand otago...and get selected for the AB's...but not play super rugby

I bought a PS5 this week, thankfully just before lockdown.
Any tips on games? Right now it looks like lots of PS4 games on replay. Bought as my brother programmes for a studio releasing a game soon, and I kind of have to get one. So wait list, and it arrived months earlier than expected

The latest Far Cry (complete with old mate from Breaking Bad/Mando as the main bad guy ) looks absolutely incredible.
That series is off the charts, absolutely amazing.

The Adidas/AB store at Auckland Airport had both the newest games (must be the Challenge 4 and the one @Tim mentioned) and a mate and I played for about an hour or so waiting for our delayed flight. They were both crappier than Challenge 3.
yeah, i had a bit of buyers remorse when i got RC4, unless its going to be fifa/madden/nba level (which they aren't) then it either needs to be cheaper or they should go for a cartoony/fun angle...going for realistic and falling so short is a fail

@nzzp what kind of games do you usually like?
Heaps of PS4 games as you say. If you sign up to PS+ you should get access to heaps of old but really good PS4 games.
Great two player couch co-op is It Takes Two. It's heaps of fun and kids can play (though it does talk about divorces etc. so be prepared for questions).
I always recommend The Last of Us (originally a PS3 games) if you haven't played if before. It's also currently being turned into a tv series.
Demon Souls Remastered is worth a go too. Looks great and runs smooth.

Was that really a PS3 game? Man time flies. @nzzp You can get a box set of all the Uncharted games reasonably cheap these days. If you liked Tomb Raider back in the day you'll enjoy Uncharted.

@nepia Yeah, made me pause before I wrote that. I'm pretty sure it came out right at the end of the PS3 lifecycle which makes it feel more like a PS4 release.
I still haven't finished the sequel. I got about halfway through and got over the story (I don't want to spoil it so I'll leave it at that). Will pick it up again one day.
The built in game in the PS5, Astro's Playground, is actually a pretty good little game in itself.

Yeah, I assume I just played it on my mates PS3 at the crossover point. I only really play rugby and league now as they are set times for a match - otherwise I'll waste the whole evening if I'm playing another style of game.
Haven't played Astros Playground but two of my mates who bought PS5s both said it was good too.

Diablo 2 remastered is out soon and total Warhammer 3 is close as well. Frothing!
