Started off with a 7 on a par 4 after splitting the fairway with a 260m 3 wood, 2nd shot, somewhere in the trees out the back of the green, never to be seen again, brand new ball, hit 2 times... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> :2funny: now....
I really think I need to go out and hit 50 golf balls before I tee off, because it seems to be about then that I start playing ok... 😢

Actually hit the ball pretty well, a few fairways missed by inches, hit 8 of the last 10 greens, but missed a few early putts for birdie and from there, nothing seemed to wanna drop!

Although I had 35 putts, I actually putted pretty good, 2 3 putts and a whole heap of 2 putts, a couple form extreme long range; have a new puttter which I am happy with.

Also a bit of bad luck, ball bouncing left instead of right on one hole meant I got a 5 instead of 3, bad bounce putting me out of bounds...but then when you start poorly, luck just aint ever gonna fall your way...
Thought it was about time I updated this....

After having a period from July through to late September of absolute shite golf (handicap went out 4 shots) things have started to get back to normal, although having played in a few tournaments recently, playing off a 9 handicap is absolutely wonderful (especially in a 4 round matchplay one where I was getting shots - lost on 2nd last hole of the final) my prize cupboard is getting fed!!

Score - ave score 80.3
GiR - 46.3%
Fairways - 44.6%
Birdies - conversion rate 18.3% (50 birdies in 30 rounds, plus about 7 eagles)
Putts - 33.2 (still 4 too high)
Up/d - 36.1%
Sand saves - 22.7%
Par 3;- +1.5
Par 4;- +6.8
Par 5; +1.3

    after 2 more rounds....86 & 76

Score - ave score 80.3 = 80.3
GiR - 46.3% to 45.5%
Fairways - 44.6% to 43.4%
Birdies - conversion rate 18.3% to 19.5%
Putts - 33.2 (still 4 too high) to 33.1
Up/d - 36.1% to 37.8%
Sand saves - 22.7% = 22.7%
Par 3;- +1.5 = +1.5
Par 4;- +6.8 = +6.9
Par 5; +1.3 = +1.2

After a horror start yesterday (being 5 over after 5 holes) managed to claw my way back to 3 over with 5 to go, only to blow 3 birdie chances in a row and turn them into bogies!! Holed 2 big putts for birdies, but missed 4 putts inside 7ft for birdies too in my best putting effort in months (29) yesterday.

4 rounds of Matchplay this weekend, and supposed tobe loads of rain on Saturday <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

well despite the forecast of lots and lots of rain, I barely got wet all weekend!! A couple of heavy downpours whilst protected by trees and then in the open on my last hole on Sunday was about the extent of it.

Well 4 matches, 2 wins, 2 losses, some awesome golf, some shite golf (shame it was 'handicap' matches as I had to give away 3, 4, 3 & 4 shots to my opposition)

Scores of 76, 85, 73, 82 (you can probably guess which ones I won in) resulted in runner up in the Plate

Score - ave score 80.2 to 80.0
GiR - 45% to 45.8%
Fairways - 41.7% to 42.2%
Birdies - still 19.7% (72 over 42 rounds)
Putts - still 33.0
Up/d - 38% to 37.8%
Sand saves - 17.9% to 23.3%
Par 3;- +1.5 = +1.4
Par 4;- still +6.5
Par 5; +1.2 = 1.1

All in all pretty happy, some early starts. Both my afternoon rounds I struggled in, but I didn't feel fatigued so not sure what that is, mental lapses no doubt; I have been doing alot more exercise recently, just need to service my bike and start saving the environment!

After reaching my 'worst' handicap of 9.0 back on 9th Februry for probably 17 years am clawing my way back and am about to get chopped from 8.0 to 6.7 after weekend.

My putting is still a problem, even in my 73 (1 over par) I had 3 3 putts, all putting for birdie, missed 2 other birdie putts inside 8 feet as well. Such a fine line between a good round and an average round, and this is the first time since being back, I have managed to have a good round that could have been better, instead of a average round that should have been better!

Do you record GIR's etc during game?

I am currently on a 32.6 handicap and would have a fucken clue how many greens I hit, or fairways for that matter. I just wish I could hit the fairway, or a green in reg.

on my card as I record my score, I use another column to record my fairways, another for GIR, putts etc. When I play 4 rounds like I did over the weekend, I have a seperate card for it....

For you , you neednt worry about GIR, like me, you should just work on your putting!!

well, not playing as much as I'd like (need) but another couple of rounds to add.

Have been doing alot more exercise, more just strength and flexibility and seems to have helped in my consistancy in my ball striking, which has at times been as good as I can remember, just freakin frustrating hitting a 300m drive and having 60-100m into a par 4 and walking away with a 5 (due to my wedge and putting game)

But even that started to come good last week after 9 when an old boy I played golf with pointed something out, I changed and OMG, ball was flying to the pin (pity about the 20ft of spin that pulled it back off, but hey, can't get it all right straight off!)

Score - ave score 80.0 to 80.3
GiR - 45.8% to 43.1%
Fairways - 42.2% 40.2%
Birdies - 19.5% 22.5%
Putts - 33.0 to 32.7 (not helped by 37 in last round)
Up/d - 37.8 to 35.3%
Sand saves - 23.3% to 40% (when you hardly go in bunkers, 1 save makes all the diff)
Par 3;- +1.4 = 1.4
Par 4;- +6.5 to +6.1
Par 5; +1.1 to +1.2
