@catogrande Ok. Delayed response but my mate made a vesper martini the other day. I liked it. Refreshing and fruity without being sweet. He used Belverdere Vodka and Quarantine Gin. Nice to sip.

    @dogmeat not a major ingredient.

Lillet Blanc is a French aromatized wine: a white wine infused with fruits, herbs and other botanicals. It was originally known as Kina Lillet, invented in 1887 and flavored with quinine. Lillet Blanc replaced Kina in 1986 and has a lower quinine content. It’s become popular in bars and restaurants for its crisp, floral flavor.

Lillet is actually a family of French aromatized wines. There are are several types of Lillet made of different wines: Lillet Blanc, Lillet Rosé and Lillet Rouge. What’s an aromatized wine? It’s a wine that’s fortified with brandy and then infused with herbs, spices, fruit or other botanicals. It’s a type of fortified wine like vermouth, but fortified wines have no extra flavors added.

Was it full when you started?

@r-l The "last week" was important rather than the ""tonight".

Picked up a couple of bottles from Four Pillars

‘Changing seasons’ is really drinkable. It’s a partnership with Kyoto so has a mix of Aussie & Japanese botanicals. Prob my favourite of the 4 pillars I’ve tried

Also got a bottle of their Navy strength that @RoninWC mentioned. Tasty.. but dangerous at 58.8%

Whitley Neill Lemongrass & Ginger Gin, a little duty free purchase.

Not sure I like it, the ginger is stronger than the lemongrass thankfully. Might have to have a second glass to see what I really think.

@catogrande well I've got it with tonic and ice, might have a wee bit neat... It's OK.... The lemongrass is what I'm not sure of, apparently with lime and ginger ale it's a Thai Mule??? I think I could get on board with that.

That's really different than when I tried a Thai 'mule' ....

Haven't tried that one before @R-L

Have you tried their Blood Orange gin? I really enjoy that one, great on a warm summer afternoon. I have also tried their Gooseberry gin and Pink Grapefruit gin, both are also good.

But they do have some far out there flavours like Aloe and Cucumber, Protea and Hibiscus, etc. Those really don't appeal to be honest.

I do find most "flavoured" gins are best on the rocks without tonic. Tonic introduces other flavours which muddy the intended flavour of the gin.

Like that Whitley Neill Blood Orange, if you can get a big ice cube or better, a large ice ball, and just pour the gin over the ice, let it sit to cool down and then enjoy. Nothing more enjoyable.

@roninwc oooh Aloe and Cucumber sounds very nice! I shall look for that one.

Decided I am not that keen on the lemongrass after about 4 glasses. 😛

    Haha, great effort.

I would imagine the lemon grass taste would get overpowering after a while.

As it's meant to be 24 C today here in Sydney so I think I will have to follow your lead and enjoy a gin or two later this afternoon.

    Latest booze order arrived

Another good Four Pillars gin - Spice Trade. Indian themed, can mostly taste the cardamom and chilli. No real heat from the chilli though

Little Biddy - this is a kiwi one. I can see why people rate it but I wouldn’t get it again. It’s nice but the botanicals are a bit too strong for my tastes. Prob makes a good G&T.

Just finished a bottle of the spice trade, really enjoyed it, thinking of the olive leaf one next as something a bit different
