@mikedogz he's cringey on a world feed (pretty sure he was commentating kayak, canoe etc at the Olympics)

I thought he was really good on the whitewater stuff. Had done his homework and managed to explain the sport easily to us part time watchers. One of my biggest gripes about the Olympics was the standard of the broadcast with fuck all graphics and 'experts' that waffled endlessly but told you nothing. I thought he was noticeably better than most.
Might of helped that I didn't know who it was until someone said so here.

@canefan Just to reiterate what I was saying.

"I'm extremely ecstatic," says Pascoe. "Originally, I wasn't coming into this meeting doing 100 breaststroke, but was a last-minute entry.

"The reason behind it was to get myself into race mode and blow the cobwebs out before my four favoured events, coming up in three days.

"I came in ranked third, breaststroke is not my favoured event, but it's Ellen's favoured. All power to her, she got me in the last 10 metres and that's when it really hurt - I gave it absolutely everything.

"It was an unexpected race and an unexpected result. I will stand on the podium with pride that I gave it absolutely everything."

              Adams gets gold.

              That’s neat.

Two gold medalists from the same family is fucking choice.

Edit: Paralympics record too, and her worst throw would have still won gold.

A silver medal to 20 yr old Danielle Aitchison in the 200 m. She was never going to beat the Chinese WR holder so great to be the best of the rest.

A smile at last from Pascoe. Also, you could see the emotion on her face when she realised she had won.

Sophie Pascoe just does enough to win gold in the 200 m IM. That's 4 in a row in this event. :clapping_hands:

The impression we have is that she's had a trying year to say the least, with a far from ideal buildup. Nice to get some rewards now

@canefan Yes, the emotion after winning last night was telling. Hopefully she has one more big race in her for the butterfly.

I didn't see the race but Nikita Howarth finished 4th in her 100m breaststroke final swimming with a fractured arm.

Danielle Aitchison backs up her silver in the 200 m with a bronze in the 100 m.

Another athletics medal. After finishing first in her heat, Danielle Aitchison won a bronze medal on the 100m track (T36). Only 0.02s behind the silver medallist.

That's her second medal after her silver on the 200m. Only 20 years old.
