And compare that to your average Star Trek 'alien' ie human with a slightly odd expression

@machpants they said it doesnt have a brain, just reacts to touch or shadow, so it'd no doubt have a crack at a person if they happened on it, at 8ft, it'd do a little damage and scare the shit out of you

not awesome that Steve Robinson died on the mountain, but the rest is pretty good!

@machpants starts as a kind of cool/unusual city idea...then turns into the prolog for a post apocalyptic sci fi movie

Yeah I was thinking how cool, then it was.....less cool.
I like the idea of being a people friendly top layer, with nature and close by amenities. Transport layer underneath for cargo/self driving cars and then the public transport under that.
Could see that working very well as a spine of a new city.

Yeah - before even watching that, I was reminded of Brasilia... he mentions it in passing in relation to the shape, but not the idea.
In some ways - it was pretty much the same thing... "This is how transport and society should work, so we'll build the city around those ideas"... except, when it was being designed - it was assumed cars/etc were the future... the entire city was built around everybody driving. Which... didn't age well. It's just a fluffybunny of a city.
Looking at this - yeah, all the ideas (well... all the ideas he outlined before going into the batshittery).... make sense, and I like them. But... are they going to age well? I can't think of what might change to make this a massive obsolete piece of shit... but... neither did Brasilia. -
Man decides to use bears as taste testers for his honey to try stop them stealing it...expect animal activists will be along at some point about exploitation!

This is good.
