I do look at Dave Rennie and Wayne Pivac plus the 3 wise men and suspect that NH head coaching experience really can help at this level.

With the passage of time I become even more entrenched in my view that certain resumes have been padded by the benefit of working with Wayne Smith.

So smart, smart enough to put his ego to the side knowing he's probably not the right head coach. I rate Henry fwiw.

Been a bit meh and dropped in terms of tactics and selection clarity since 2016. Looks a bit chummy then and now, too hard to get dropped. Too much flexibility positional flexibility for favoured players blah blah

ABs now seem a bit "we win with our superior AB skillz(TM) and dual-playmaker (TM)".

But really I'd prefer to see more ... "Sod a dual-playmaker(TM), we win with our brutal uncompromising edge and THEN crush them with the skillz(TM)"

Rant over, I'm new here, apologies to all offended

@landp LOL you need to work on your ranting, far tooo tame for here!

But I think a lot of people agree after the miracle year of '16 he stayed on too long. Original plan was to be there for the Lions, then go. Would've been ideal, Foster would've got his two years to RWC, failed just as badly as Hansen I'm sure. Then we would've a got a new broom. Instead we've got 4 more years, and I am sure we'll be samshed up front in an improtant game in the RWC, and still have no plan (that works) to defeat an uncompromising defence oriented team when they get in our face and our skillz(TM) aren't working.

Hope I'm wrong and we never lose another game ever and Fozzie is the second coming. But really think we're on a downward spiral of losing to Argentina type mediocrity

Not even sure if that's the case - no Barrett at blindside and Cane picking up daisys for one.

He was clearly an integral piece of the puzzle. GH was no slug either mind you. No coincidence the previous super rugby title the Blues won, GH was in the management team

Yes, plus rebuilt a poor AB culture. Plus had the balls to stick around after a gut-wrenching 2007 WC loss, serious balls and must have been very very driven to do keep going tbh.

And remember how boring it was for all those years when we were awesome and the team naming was utterly predictable and without much argument on here?

I do not miss those days. I look forward to the howls that follow the team naming!

Either way, that was probably the only real blip for Smith as an AB coach.

                              https://www.rugbypass.com/news/kerevi-re-call-set-to-break-giteau-law/

Samu Kerevi will start for the Wallabies on Sunday, two years after his last appearance and a move to Japan he feared would end his Test career.

The explosive tackle-buster will be named at inside centre against New Zealand in Perth, replacing Hunter Paisami who returned home for the birth of his child.

He’s back in the Wallabies fold now thanks to a relaxation of the Giteau Law, the veteran of 33 Tests one of two overseas-based players allowed despite not meeting the 60-cap qualification.

Dave Rennie shuffling deckchairs. Obviously not a fan of established partnerships.

@machpants I love watching AB rugby and the Skillz (TM) on display, no team does it better

But what I really love is when an AB pack comes out totally fired up against a full French or English pack who are ALSO totally fired up and gradually not just get "parity" but beat them head on physically. Often that takes 65+ minutes and it's 9-6 or 6-9 but the other side is dead on their feet by then

THEN you can show the skills and maybe let BB shovel a pass to 12 to run a crash ball and set up next forward phase

I'm half joking tbh, but the great teams know when that upfront edge is pretty mainly what is needed on a certain day ... it seems to go missing sometimes in the ABs the last few years.

If not NZ, I really hope France win the next world cup btw

Foster still having lunch, so We have to wait an extra few hours for him to finish FFFS before we see the team.
