On this player power shit, I agree it's fucking garbage. Re moving on Irving and possibly bringing in Simmons for him, being vetoed by Durant, I agree with suspending his salary as a point of action. I wouldn't miss him. And I think the short term pain for the Nets would be worth it if such a move started turning the tide back towards the GMs running the rosters.

NBA: No pay if unvaccinated players can't play

NBA: No pay if unvaccinated players can't play

An NBA spokesperson said that if players miss games because they can't abide by vaccine mandates, they won't get paid.

    @canefan

Without wanting to turn the NBA thread into a Covid thread, Isaac articulates his position pretty well

Unhelpful when trying to encourage others to get the vax. But he has had covid19 and is bound to have passive immunity at some level. But the league can't have disruption that affects the product, so it is as much a labour force issue as a health issue for them

@canefan has any vaccinated player come out and said they'll refuse to play with / against an unvaccinated player?

Not that I know of. But there are many cities whose laws prohibit unvaccinated players from practicing or playing. For example San Fran and NYC so any non vaxx players stand to miss all home games and all home practices. That doesn't take into account away games in cities with similar rules. The league can't have its players not being able to play

Well the league already has its players REFUSING to play whenever they feel like it.

It's an odd situation, tricky stuff

Are we talking about load management? In terms of skiving off on a regular basis, Kyrie immediately comes to mind. I really don't like him, great on court skills but just a stupid ignorant self absorbed person

Load management sure, but more Kawhi, Harden, Simmons, AD - all refusing to play and forcing their way out of teams. And getting paid to do it.

Right I get you. The pendulum has certainly swung way to the top players' favour. And with endorsements dwarfing wages now its unlikely to change.

Andrew Wiggins has reportedly had his first covid19 vax shot. Goes to show eventually the pressure of restrictions on non-vaxxed employees and the promise of lost wages can be an effective motivator

I read that about 95% of NBA players are now vaccinated.

That's a big number. The outliers like Kyrie will surely be brought to heel soon. Although he's just the kind of jerk who would hold out longer just to make his point

Nets send Kyrie home rather than have him only play road games

I know he doesn't have the versatility of some of the other bigs in the league, but he had an excellent season last year

Sources: Suns' talks with Ayton end without deal

Sources: Suns' talks with Ayton end without deal

Negotiations between the Phoenix Suns and star Deandre Ayton on an extension to his rookie contract have ended without a deal, sources told ESPN on Monday.

Ayton reportedly feels disrespected, so if the Sun's change their mind and want him there will be no hometown discount. Or in a couple of years he will leave regardless of the offers because the relationship is broken

I think the Suns front office have done the right thing. I don’t think he is worth that post-rookie max extension that he is seeking.
