@billy-tell I think Jordan was the only one of the back 3 (including Dmac) who didn't drop a high ball.

But, I think he might only have had to catch one and that without much pressure - and that one he lost forward in the tackle trying to pass pretty much immediately after.

Jordie seemed to be taking pretty much everything kicked to the right hand side.

I would pick Will because I like watching him and I think he has a massive ceiling - but, Sevu is also due another shot so I'm not hugely surprised.

Sorry mate, you didn't watch the game very closely if yoiu didn't see Jordan drop a high kick, and throw another ball away. I would of liked him in there, but he made a few cock ups last week.

@dan54 Are you sure he dropped one? Do you know roughly when it was?

I only watched the game once, but I was keeping a bit of an eye on Will.

He certainly lost a ball trying to pass in the tackle - and threw an intercept in the second half.

If he dropped one I must have mistaken him for Jordie. 🙂

just spotted something interesting on the TRC stats page.

If you look at the top 10 players for metres carried Bridge and Valetini are the only ones that aren't also in the top 10 for defenders beaten.

EDit: Will Jordan appears in neither top 10 but is second equal on tries scored. That's Josh Kronfeld levels of try 'poaching'

I'm glad you put those marks around the poaching. If a player has the ability to barge over the line from 5m out and scores most of his tries that way we think that's fine. But apparently having that knack of appearing at the right place and being able to run them from 50 m out consistently is a worse ability!

I have no issue with how points are scored. I just use the term to describe a player whose style is to score from the work of others more than create something themselves.
If that’s his job then fine.

He had two turnovers and I think he missed one high kick, but those could be them.

I didn't identify him dropping a high ball, though - but, video evidence to prove me wrong is probably on its way! 🙂

I've got a feeling he either dropped one or lost the contest (which wouldn't show up).

Mate, sorry can't remember the time of any of the drops apart from Bridges first, but do remember him putting one down.

I've been humming and hawing about doing a rewatch because my impression was if Rieko/Toeava/Jordie had a game like Teflon Will, they would have pitchforks through them. But fuck that game was just so awful, I don't think I can do it.

                                Good team.

I'm starting to like Foster's selections. There's a good mix of consistency, giving players a couple of games to prove themselves (or not in Bridge's case) and easing players back who've been out for a while.

He seems to be getting the best out of players who've been on the margins as well. The likes of Akira Ioane and Scott Barrett have really knuckled down and seem different players from past years. Ditto RIoane.

I'm expecting another tough game on Saturday - it's the Boks after all - but with far fewer mistakes from the AB's. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see a different game from SA. Their players are way more skilful than kick and chase and they'll do whatever they can to grab a win.

Well they've been saying repeatedly all week that they did enough to win, it's their DNA, and they'll stick to it. So it would be a very big surprise, and a great bit if deception, if it's not same same for SA again.

This time the abs have seen it before and are ready

I think we knew exactly what was coming - but we executed terribly. Gifted them points, didn't read the ref (random though he was), and just dropped or turned over so much ball.

We hold half the balls we coughed up last week, we win by 15

Wouldn't at all be surprised to see a different game from SA. Their players are way more skilful than kick and chase and they'll do whatever they can to grab a win

Well they've been saying repeatedly all week that they did enough to win, it's their DNA, and they'll stick to it. So it would be a very big surprise, and a great bit if deception, if it's not same same for SA again.

@machpants plus that is how they played all season, are they really gonna step outside thier comfort zone now?

I mean 3 Ls on the bounce should prove they need to change, but I'm not sure the cattle they have right now is capable.of such a change in a week

Who is the ref? Either way we need to take protecting the breakdown into our own hands

It's different knowing what was coming and experiencing it. Some players there never played SA before, some not much versus SA super teams even.

In addition no one saw the box kicks in the attacking zone, that's new

@machpants that last one from Faf was certainly a surprise, surely for his team too...sheesh.
