I enjoy the show but he try's very hard to portray a certain "bad boy" image.

Apparently he always said he hated Billy Joel and would never have any ( music of his ) in his restaurant, the piano man then apparently took a photo and emailed it to him saying "Look, you've got some Billy Joel in your restaurant" ( those blokes are clearly too old for Twitter )

The places he goes and the food he eats is amazing, it is clear he knows he's a lucky bastard living his dream

I'm going to Tokyo for the first time soon, his Tokyo episodes have me salivating like mad. M4L watch Bourdain's episode on Brooklyn if you are into foodie jaunts

My ex and I used to enjoy the cooking channel and in terms of "celebrity" chefs good old Ramsey always had it over all the others. I haven't seen much of Bourdain but that Billy Joel stuff did irk me and made him seem like a bit of a cock but I certainly wouldn't tell him to fuck off if he turned up at my doorstep with heaps of ingredients and some nice bottles of red.

Yeah the Mrs. is a huge foodie, so we often have the food channel on by default.

Bourdain isn't the most versitile chef around. I'd say his shows are more travel shows than cooking shows.

Also look up bourdain French laundry. He goes out to napa for a 50 course extravaganza including an individualised dessert featuring coffee and cigarettes. But the El Bulli one with Ferran Adria might be my all time favourite

He admits he was a line cook who wrote a book that turned out to be his lucky ticket out. It's more about eating than cooking and his later shows are definitely more sophisticated and more about travel than food

Visit Macy's.

Take a Helicopter ride over Manhattan.

Only thing I would change is to skip The Empire State Building. Hit up the Top of the Rock instead. If you go up the ESB obviously you don't get a view of the ESB which is impressive to see from that height.
