For the netballers, only 4 players were allowed to leave, but not any of the Auckland-based support staff. That included the team manager and physio amongst others.

The MoH should be consistent though.

Where were the teams going to be based in their latest proposal? Was it still at Wairakei?

@bovidae yea Taupo. The early word is the 3 teams aren't keen on a 'tri-series' of any kind so that's probably all she wrote for NH, CM & Akl.

According to 1 news they had a full plan to work to that was submitted as well, given all involved double vaxxed, bit of a shit decison really, especially with the upcoming drive to allow vaxxed people to do more stuff 🙄

We're paying people wages and they can't play. We can't generate revenue. All the gaming venues which we rely on for a lot of our community game are trying hard to help but their venues are shut. Sponsors are very loyal but they don't do it for no return either, so that's another difficult part to manage.

so wages are a sunk cost, players don't generate revenue. NPC crowds don't cover fark all. Sponsors have already paid up...
.. the one nugget there - a LOT of the income comes from.. pokies. "gaming venues".
Ciggie sponsorship got shut down years ago - this is so much worse.

So weird that Level 3 you should be at home but all these sports teams are just legging it. Kinda defeats the purpose IMO

It is going to be a very light schedule for this round as neither Waikato or Northland will be able to train until Friday at the earliest.

@taniwharugby OK. I hadn't heard that. So everyone is in the BOP, including the Black Ferns. 🙂

Waikato is meant to be playing Taranaki at home.

@bovidae we are meant to have Otago at home, I believe they were looking at Rotorua as an alternative due to lights as opposed to Tauranga domain.

By Thursday assume be too late to change venues.

BUNNINGS WAREHOUSE NPC DRAW CONFIRMED FOR REST OF THE SEASON

In addition to the scheduled round robin matches, there will be a non-competition match played each week. Featuring teams that would have otherwise played Auckland region teams, to ensure teams don’t go two weeks without a match. Any additional, non-competition matches hosted by the Ranfurly Shield holder will not be considered mandatory challenges. The first non-competition match will see Ta$man hosting Bay of Plenty this Sunday 17 November at 2.05PM.

While the Auckland-based teams’ matches both played and scheduled remain on the points table, points for matches unable to be played against Auckland-based teams will be split 2 points for each team. The final adjustment to the Bunnings Warehouse NPC will see semi-finals and finals played in both the Premiership and Championship but no promotion or relegation for any teams this season.

“We acknowledge there are elements of the competition which have been impacted, which is unfortunate but also unavoidable. It wasn’t an easy decision to remove promotion and relegation, we realise this is disappointing for some teams but with the Auckland region unable to compete, we needed to ensure the competition outcomes are as fair as possible and we also don’t know with any certainty that further teams won’t be impacted by COVID-19 restrictions before the end of the competition.

“The Super City competition for Auckland-based teams is still an option, we continue to work with the teams and key partners on the feasibility of making this happen. Our hope is to have an update later this week.”

Waikato and Northland regions are currently operating under COVID-19 Alert Level 3 restrictions, with the teams from those regions currently based in Tauranga and unable to play at home until those regions return COVID-19 Alert Level 2.

Northland were scheduled to play Otago in Whangarei on Friday 15 November. The match will be relocated to Rotorua, for the same time and day. Waikato was due to host Taranaki at home this Saturday, the team remains hopeful of playing at FMG Stadium and will wait for government’s next COVID-19 Alert Level update before announcing where they will play.
