I also decided to check out Kate the other night and also Birds Of Prey. Maybe I should re-watch Atomic Blonde for the set.

The Manor Supernatural drama set in an old peoples home with Barbara Hershey.

Not going to win any Oscars but I really enjoyed it - Hershey is actually pretty good. Bit more atmospheric and suspenseful than most the genre.

4 Evil Nursing Home owners out of 5 Caring Geriatric Nurses.

    :::

The ending was a bit predictable, but with a twist. You were never quite sure Hershey's character would join the bad guys or not

After watching a how its made doco on the movie I rewatched Forrest Gump for the first time in ages. IMHO the movie has aged very well. Brilliant acting, a kick ass soundtrack, and a wonderful story. 5 shrimp boats out of 5 Jennys

@tim i dont remember much of that from Spectre, not great to be forgettable

I think the recent ones after Casino are blurring together because they have less briefcase helicopters, volcano lears, space stations

I posted it on the doco thread. It's called The movies that made us(?) On Netflix. Each episode is focussed on a different movie. Forest Gump, Jurassic Park, Die Hard, Home alone, among others. Great series

    Gunpowder Milkshake. Maybe Salt?

Not to mention all the awesome, awesome asian movies with chicks dealing out extreme violence.

Cheers - that was rather good.

    Joker.

Dark, miserable sad. Really hard watching, not for me.

However. I cannot think of a better performance than
    Phoenix. In anything. Ever.

Agree. I didn't really enjoy it. I get the movies are getting slightly darker but I like the Comic appeal of Marvel and DC rather than the documentary type movies.

thank you, thought it was just me, the joker is my go too example of the difference between a great film/acting....and an enjoyable experience

i also still have question around a "joker" movie with almost no connection to batman, the joker has said several time hes nothing without the Batman and thats why he hasn't killed him when given the chance

i think they could have changed the title and like two characters names and it would have just been this awesome original film about a guys descent into madness

Maybe then it would be too obvious that they're just doing a remake mish mash of King of Comedy/Taxi Driver?

I think Phillips said it was also easier for them to get funding under The Joker banner.

Buddy Games: Warning. If you see this movie on your streaming service and think "oh, it looks like fun, looks like a Game Night style movie, oh and Olivia Munn is in it too", slap yourself and go and watch some paint dry. What an absolute turd. It goes for raucous shenanigans comedy but just doesn't pull it off.

This is in my top three worst movies I've seen this year along with Chaos Walking and ZSJL. I think Amazon deserves to give me a month free subscription for putting this in the highlighted section of the service.

Yep. Was really good. Makes the other Joker performances (including Ledger) look like campy shit.

Still scratching my head about why there was a prerelease freak out. The dude wasn't an Incel and was banging a hot black woman. He murders some white yuppie arseholes on the subway. I thought it was brilliant how an essentially good person can become completely effed up because of the way he's raised and treated by his caregiver and then society. I think the scary part is how this kind of "uprising" could definitely take place in a post-covid world.

Digression and half arsed undergraduate review over. Excellent film and one of the few I could actually continue watching to the end these days.
