This one starts with a bang.

Reminds me a bit of the start of the Space: 1999 theme.

@jc I have even posted some baroque here but it got ignored in the race to fap over yet another over-hyped 90's grunge garage band 😉

Not sure if there are any Counting Crows fans in here, but I'm listening to this concert in my home office this morning. Definitely keen on recommendations for decent live music on YouTube to listen to (by decent, I mean not grainy cellphone footage shot in portrait mode videos)

Counting Crows got a LOT of airtime during my uni years

Me too. One dude in my hostel would just play the CD on repeat. I am always tempted to stab my ears when I hear them now so that I never have to again. I'd rather watch Yellowstone on repeat.

About the only positive way thing I can say about Counting Crows is they don’t have as many horrific songs ( that I’ve heard ) as Train.

Off the top of my head, I think I only know one Train song. So I guess I'm lucky.

Seeing the Counting Crows open for The Who in 2009 was another of those strange band match-ups.

Counting Crows, Train and other bands ( Goo Goo dolls, The Gin blossoms and Hooberstank to name another few ) are kind of a bizarre hybrid, not quite rock, not quite pop but instead they’re just in an entirely new genre which is usually utterly shit.

Add to that list No Doubt, Matchbox 20 and Spin Doctors.

So much shit in the early 90s and an era that I just have never been interested in because of that. Probably had some good stuff masked by the rubbish but I can't be assed investigating.

All good shouts although No Doubt were pretty catchy due to a very hot lead singer.

Without repeating stuff I’ve said earlier the 90s stuff that was actually rock was the best era overall though I reckon.

When I say that I’m referring to the amount of good bands at one time. Zep are still the greatest band ever.

So other bands of the same era as LedZep are outgunned by 90s bands?

Sabbath, Humble Pie, Deep purple, Who, Aerosmith, ACDC...

Humble Pie aren’t in that league. At all. I hate Aerosmith so they’ll never feature. AC/DC of course can make a claim for the 90s too given they released a bit then.

I love Sabbath and Purple and I like the Who.

But the early 90s had Gunners, Faith no More, Chillis, Metallica, Rage, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden. All in all a far better era overall in my opinion.

Humble Pie aren’t in that league.

Wash your mouth out. Humble Pie are all sorts of awesome (if under-rated). Give them another listen if you haven't for a while.

Marriott is right up there as one of the best ever rock vocalists and their influence on bands down the track (even to the point of copying Marriotts moves) is huge.

I never said they were bad and yeah, he was a great vocalist.

The big three were always Zep, Sabbath and Purple though and of them Zep were by far the biggest.
