The Brumbies squad page still shows Kata who has been released. It also is missing a few of the recent signings

The Brumbies have confirmed the re-signing of 4/5 of their locks from this year (all of them except Tucker). They have also signed an additional lock (Ed Kennedy)

Ok replay the start of the RS game when the teams are named as they go through the Waikato team Nesbit mentions he’s is off to the Brumbies.

@chris I'll take your word for it; their website has a squad list but it doesn't say whether it's the 2022 squad or 2021 squad. Just want to update my "signings" list, but for that I need either a Brumbies media release about him re-signing or the full 2022 squad announcement. I can't find either on their website.

@chris I said I was taking your word for it (translation: I believe what you say is true), but what you - or a commentator - say is not enough as official confirmation of a (re-)signing. That has to come from an official source, preferably the Brumbies. If I took everything commentators say as a fact, my lists would be useless.

Of course I am not asking you to put it on the wiki list just passing on what I heard.

Kata would be a good pickup for the Blues and would be interesting having to former Nrl converts at the Blues, possibly helping RTS transition, Is it a done deal, he could still go to MP.

@african-monkey Darry's set piece work seems sound, but he really lacks physicality around the field. It is not uncommon for young string bean locks to take time to grow into their physicality as they often struggle to put muscle on their frame until they reach 23-24 years old. Hopefully he will develop that side of his game through next season. I am sure the coaches will give him that 'work on'.
I wonder what Segner's signing means for the loosie mix. If he is signed as an openside does that mean Choat misses out or that Hunt is not coming back from his concussion problems (which would be a worry as its been a year since he last played).

Does that seem coincidental that comes at a similar time to Ngani's departure to France. He is also described as a similar kind of player to Ngani. His experience in adapting to Union from League and being a former teamate of RTS, and the AB's need for a big blockbusting centre could really bring something to the table..

I assume we are talking about Kata? He hardly ever passed in League, not sure I'd want him in the midfield.

@african-monkey TBH, if Goodhue can keep fit, I think he could really start to realise his potential.

He is a good scrummaging lock, good in the air (although had 1 game for the Blues this year where he was unusually poor) and has great a work rate on both sides of the ball, just needs to do it consistently and stay injury free.

@taniwharugby really think they have missed a trick with not signing Caird. Since he has come back our pack has looked so much better. He is a natural athlete - quick on his feet so hits soft shoulders and makes ground with his carries, good in the air. It may be because they don’t have enough power?

But both Northland locks have outplayed their Waikato counterparts in recent years - by quite a bit. Even in games where we have been crap Caird has always been a standout. Sometimes when you are looking for something specific ( grunt? ) you miss what’s in front of you. Caird better than Tucker, Romano, Darry. Presume with Tucker and Romano they just wanted power scrumming.

Noticeable that Blues picking up Ta$man players. They should be a pathway for players in the region.

I wonder who replaces Faiane in the squad.

I realise Plummer will probably start at 12 but they need more 12 options.

Evans? Tua? Is Toala still signed to the Canes?

His contract with the Canes expired this year. Haven't heard anything about him being re-signed, but that doesn't mean much, obviously.

It may be because they don’t have enough power?

That's certainly what it looked like when Caird played for the Tahs this year. Really lacked power.

Couldn’t comment on that as I don’t have the numbers. Our scrum goes well with him. Aside from that, a really skilful player.

I wonder who replaces Faiane in the squad.

I realise Plummer will probably start at 12 but they need more 12 options.

Evans? Tua? Is Toala still signed to the Canes?

@kiwimurph not sure Tua has had enough gametime this year, unless they are happy enough with what they saw last year and his limited minutes this year to take a punt.

@kev Caird has good acceleration and speed too, I think he has put a few kegs on too, I expect he knows he had to up his physicality.

@kev Hopefully the Canes use their brains and try grab him as we need the extra lock.

The Canes are yet to announce their last two locking signings, I think one will be Walker-Leawere but that 5th lock is anyone’s guess. Maybe Cridge, Caird or another option.

@kiwimurph. The fact that the Brumbies announced Kata's release the Friday before MP are announcing two Tongan signings Monday suggests to me that he may go there but others on here are certain he is signed with the Blues so lets assume he is. In an interview on SENZ back in August Rangi said that the backline was fully signed up already back then. I think the backline squad 17 could be close to this -
                                          Outsides -
                                          Sullivan
                                          JRK
                                          RTS
                                          Telea
                                          Clarke
                                          Lam
                                          **Midfield - **
                                          Heem
                                          Ioane
                                          Tele'a
                                          Kata
                                          Evans
                                          Insides -
                                          Barrett
                                          Plummer
                                          Perofeta
                                          Christie
                                          Ruru
                                          Nock
Some players could be named in different positions ie: Lam and RTS in the centres or Kata and Heem on the wings. With the versatility available they could decide to only pick 16 backs and carry an extra forward.
