Tamati Tua has been signed by the Blues , bit of a surprise for mine ,has had a lot of injury issues in the last 2 -3 seasons meaning he has only played 38 x games for the Taniwha ,since his debut as an 18 year old in 2016 .
Tua was on the Blues Radar this time last year ,but had major shoulder surgery last December which kept him out of the first 9 months of 2021
Will be 24 in November, so for me this could be make or break, pardon the pun.
Might actually put the Wrampling rumour to bed , although I would say the Blues still do look a little thin at 2nd five unless they see RTS or Plummer as options . -

@duluth yeah this is the same coaches who keep selecting Hohaia...doing a great job at stifling Reihana and Gregory too!
Anywhoo, Tua is a great prospect, tall, quick, strong and a good skillset...but also agree just when it seems he is about to make that next step, he gets injured, and being shuffled about with Northland doesnt help.

@duluth yeah this is the same coaches who keep selecting Hohaia...doing a great job at stifling Reihana and Gregory too!

He was in very good form last NPC
He's playing 12 in this game but the try that he sets up reminds me a lot of RI at 13. Footwork then beating the defender with pace (20 seconds in)

As it seems that is maybe 17 backs in the 2022 squad. I wouldn't expect any team to pick 18 backs in their squad.

The Blues just posted a vid of him smiling on Instagram (yes, I know ...), so I'd assume so.
@tim I think Nogusta mentioned that he still has one year on his contract, unless there is a mutual decision for him to move on anyway.

(May just be because they were team mates at NZ schools level i think) but adds a little to the intrigue.

@tim love this time of the year , it actually disappoints me that a real big opportunity is always missed by the franchises to drip feed some signed players each day to build momentum.
Moana Pacifika has done it brilliantly unloading signings each day , and checking on their social netwok each day and watching the interest build has been superb.
It also leads to plenty of speculation and chat. -

@tim I also stalked the page of the person who made the post. They have pictures of a baby in Blues jersey captioned "Blues all Day" so they are also a Blues supporter - even intrigueier!
