    @billy-tell I havent seen enough of the 2 NH ones to say Hooper was better, but he takes the SH section easy.

    Antoine Dupont has been outstanding for the last couple of years.

    It'll be Itoje by virtue of number of fans, surely? Kerevi was great but it seems a bit of a joke to have him in there over Kolisi, Etzebeth or even Ardie.

    Reminds me of the time Launchberry got voted MotM by the crowd when we tipped England out of their own WC.

    Before I vote on Try of the Year, I would like a 3-person panel appointed to review each try from 17 different angles to try to identify any possible infractions. I'll allow them 18mths to conduct the review.

    ... and the try scorer was playing with his socks down! How rude! 😉

    Full nominations:

    WORLD RUGBY AWARDS 2021 NOMINEES

    World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year (fan vote)

    Antoine Dupont (France)
    Michael Hooper (Australia)
    Maro Itoje (England/British and Irish Lions)
    Samu Kerevi (Australia)

    Uninspiring. DuPont only real standout so should walk this.

    Itoje / Hooper both fantastic, but not stand out POTY candidates for me. Kerevi been great, but has he really played enough?

    World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year (panel vote)

    Will Jordan (New Zealand)
    Andrew Kellaway (Australia)
    Louis Rees-Zammit (Wales)
    Marcus Smith (England)
    )

    Thus is an epic list of players. Worrying (?) that all are backs tho.

    Not really. Similar thing to football that try scorers tend to pick up the gongs as their highlight reels are better than rugby forwards/football defenders.

    I think Etzebeth is unlucky not to be up for the award this year. I think his (and the Bok pack's) Houdini acts against Oz did for him.

    @majorrage

    I'd vote for Itoje if he was nominated for over-rated, seagulling, show pony of the year.

    Granted he's very good at obstruction and normally does one goodish thing a game that the commentators can lose their load over but I have watched him a lot and he normally spends most of the game jogging aimlessly around as if he'd never played footy before and then either leans on or flops on a ruck.

    Taranaki should be one of the nominees for the National Team of the Year. Unless NZR is telling us what they think of the Championship. 😉
