Old Henry - A western about an injured bloke being chased by baddies who ends up at a farmer’s house in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma. There’s more going on than anybody realises. Like Nobody but with horses and hogs.

A warning though, no boobies, no hotties, fuck it I’ll just say it: there’s not a single woman in the entire movie.

    5 never-ending Colt 45s out of 5 bad sheriffs

Okay - yeah, this was actually pretty good.
Just a good solid no-nonsense western... fuck-all plot, plenty of shooting shitty old revolvers with fuck-all accuracy.
What would have been a fucking cheesy reveal in any other movie... just kinda worked..
Confirmed: zero tits - bare, hinted at, or at all.

Gene Hackman was in 20 films in the 1980s. After Superman II in 1980, they were all bombs until No Way Out (great movie) in 1987, and Mississippi Burning in 1988. It wasn't until 1992 that his career recovered with his great performance in Unforgiven.

I've been watching some of those 80s movies, and generally they are not good.

Agree about No Way Out and Mississippi Burning.

Reds and Hoosiers are well regarded.

@bovidae Hoosiers was fun. Don't think any of them made money before No Way Out.

@tim I think his career recovered with his roles in Mississippi Burning and No Way Out, both great films and outstanding performances from him. With Hoosiers that's three pretty good films in three years.

Did have the Cannon Superman IV in between to bring things down a bit though. 🙂

Venom 2: Kind of fun, only 90 minutes (I like a short film sometimes), more comedic than many comedies.

that is when he played Lex Luthor? I don't know, it kind of dated badly but in an interesting comic way.

@nepia Uncommon Valor was an interesting case. Same director as First Blood (Rambo), and coming one year after. Obviously he was hot, it starred Hackman, and was produced John Milius. Something must have happened with the budget, because everything conspired to stop the action and make the movie lame.

    The Little Things

    Shit weather so movie weekend.

    Denzel and Rami Malek.

    The latter didn't really fit.

Long and a little bit over blown.

And half way through they throw in Jared Leto as the baddie. But is he? Well he is the baddie bit is he the baddie we think he is?

    Densely is Denzel.

    Rami is hopeless.

    Leto is good.

Have seen worse movies, but was not easy to follow.

    OK in the end.

3 (barely) red barettes out of five bitch why the fuck are you letting him force you to dig holes, you fucking dickhead?

Reds was Warren Beatty’ magnum opus. A loooong film about the early days of American communism.

    As interesting as it sounds.

Great review. Denzil is always good and Leto was weirdly effective but agree about Malik. Not a fan of his, he was such a “meh” baddie in Bond as well.

Yeah, he seems like one of those actors who was astonishing in a specific role but doesn't really fit anywhere else.

Adrian Brody may be another example of this, but tbh it was ridiculous that he won an Oscar for the Pianist.

Yeah apparently being a bit thin, awkward and foreign looking is a substitute for genuine acting chops if those two are anything to go by.

Brody is a plank of wood that makes Clive Owen look like 70s De Niro in comparison.
