There should be an extra stat on match reports: no. of tacklers left on the ground trying to tackle him... Samisoni would leap to the top.

        @stargazer

It’s a competitive market out there and you can’t really sit on your hands and just expect that people that may have had a pathway through your development programmes are still going to be there when it comes to signing players,” McMillan said.

reading this article it seems likely Jarrad Hoeata is the Chiefs new forwards coach replacing Barnes.

@kiwi_expat It's possible, but I just read it as Hoeata and Randle being his assistants when coaching the NZ Barbarians.

Well Hoeata was assistant coach at Taranaki this year under Barnes so Barnes knows him very well and Taranaki had an undefeated season. Feels pretty fast tracked but that's modern coaching.

Hoeata was also the forwards coach for the Chiefs U20s.

I wouldn't read too much into who is coaching the Baabaas, as they were replacements for the Auckland-based coaches.

If you were picking someone from within the Chiefs you could just as easily choose Ross Filipo.

That feels like the sort of thing I might be in support of if it were another franchise. Where is our Coventry?

Paul Tito likely would've gotten the role but he's been poached by the Western Force.

*Tito, 43, was on Taranaki's coaching staff from 2014 to 2016, achieving Ranfurly Shield success and National Provincial Championship (NPC) premiership and championship honours.

He spent three years as forwards coach at French club Pau until returning to Taranaki last year after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tito was the Chiefs' under-20s head coach this year.*

Except he wasn't the head coach. Paul Hodder was. Tito wasn't even involved. Stuff making shit up again.

Chiefs recycle jerseys. Men's training jersey is the same as the women's jersey. Kinda pisses me off and doesn't give the Manawa their own identity.

Mentioned in the article about Cane:

As part of his contract, Cane has the option of taking a non-playing or playing break from the New Zealand game in 2024.

The Hurricanes had also earlier approached Ratima about coming onboard as temporary injury cover for the season but nothing eventuated, while an offer from the Crusaders was also tough to turn down.
“I was approached by the Crusaders earlier on and I sat on the decision about whether to stay or go for so long, maybe two weeks. I was trying to put the pros and cons together and had a lot of talks with the old man about what to do."

This makes me very happy that he decided to play for the Chiefs after receiving 2 other offers.

@crazy-horse exactly, not just a sport/rugby thing. The overall situation is taken into account. No doubt it is not a good look for the young man but he has the chance to put this behing him and grow.

Molia is one of the Chiefs U20 players I would be expecting to train with the main squad. He could be our Tupou.
