Coincidentally i have just started listening to Mothers Milk again recently. My boys love Magic Johnson, and Subway to Venus is fucking awesome funk. Great album. BSSM is excellent, but i haven't like anything since. They should have stayed on the drugs.

I actually like Counting Crows. August & Everythin After is a pretty good album, and Recovering the Satellites has some good songs on it. It's not on a regular rotation, but i break it out every so often. You're right though, not the most uplifting stuff.

I saw their singer in a college bar once. He looked very un rock n roll. Did try to chat up some freshman girls though.

I've given the Chili Peppers a lot of shit over the years, but the leaked demo from them was pretty good.

Not most peoples cup of tea, but my favorite song from this years Eurovision was Italy's song

Every once in a while I chop my usual playlist at the gym (consists of my 100 or so songs of the moment) and just do random through the 30gb or so stuff I have on there. A lot of it is grunge, heavy metal etc but today I got stuck in to a bit of tool which I hadnt heard for a while. Still so dam good.

And for something completely different, I cant get enough of this track.

Too much GeorgeFM I think
-

To be fair it was a bit of a tongue in cheek response to this literally a couple of posts back -

Train are absolutely horrific. Another band of the same ilk as them and Hootie and the Blowfish are the Counting Crows, just god awful fucken music from people who found Rage, GnR, Faith no More, Chillis, Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots a bit aggressive and "rock" like.....the 90s in particular was full of pussy music like that....other names to throw in are the Goo Goo dolls, Hoobastank and of course Nickelback......

Typical, all you fluffybunnys always blame me.

Agree with what MajorRage said a few posts back about GnR.....there's so much music from the 80s, in particular all pop and virtually all rock that you think "Wow that shit is SOOOOOOOO 80s" but GnR don't sound dated in the slightest, if you hadn't heard of them for close to 30 years you could swear it was released yesterday.
-

I will definitely watch this. I know, big shock.

Like any era some of that was good and some crap......One thing I really like about the GTA playstation games is the soundtracks, none more so than Vice City which gave me a whole new appreciation for music of the time from Joe Jackson, Pointer Sisters, Roy Ayers, Luther Vandross etc. The theme tune was pure 80s synth heaven, sounded just like Miami Vice or Scarface.....
-

So my eldest is at the age where he is finding his own music to listen to. No worries. So in an effort to bond we are finding stuff he likes that i also like (kids really like dancy pop music aye?). And there is some catchy stuff out there, especially in the dancy pop music genre.

But I've come to the realisation i like Macklemore. His new album is pretty good. He's taking the piss and it's awesome.

It's all so fucking catchy. The latest one "Dance Off" is fucking cool as well.

yea, what about it?
-

thankfully they haven't gone that far. They fucking love this

I haven't enjoyed a track this much upon hearing it for the first time since I got down with OPP back in the 90s......great work.
-

It's catchy as hell aye?

Not only that they certainly didn't look like they wouldn't have had fun making that video....
-

Holy shit, that new Macklemore album is actually really good. Mixed in with the piss takers (i know a loooot of people who will relate to "Lets Eat") there are some really good serious, even sobering songs. I'm impressed.

Are you telling me there's a white boy rapper out there to carry on the torch that Vanilla Ice lit in 1990 since we all stopped what we were doing......collaborated and listened ?
-

I'm down with the mack bro. Thrift shop is a mint tune (but thrashed to death) and new stuff is good too.

MN5, I liked 'Sorry' before I realised it was the beebs. Still like, although that dirty feeling won't wash off! Didn't hate that dubstep track he did either.

I've been working through my fav Weezer music of late. Saw them on their Blue Album tour and they were fucking mean. That album has aged well imo.
-

Weezer are fucking excellent, i listen regularly.

Buddy Holly is as good a song as you could possibly get from that era but on the whole they're not a band I really got into.

Piss easy to play on the guitar though which always helped impress the ladies before Tinder was invented.
-
I am now listening to... Vinyl. After years of iTunes, I finally created enough space to set up a music "system"

It's great to hear that warm crackle before the music starts. So I have unearthed my old collection, some of it I haven't listened to for nearly 30 years. Christ I had some shit, but real gems too. Currently going through a lot of old Stones and Zep albums!
