@dogmeat not sure what “bickering and bullshit” you refer to. The post recording stuff?
GM was there most of the time but was also aware that the idea Paul had was for them to knock out some songs and play them live. He kept changing his mind though and there is a scene in the mixing room where he’s listening to Winding Rd and going on about overdubbing strings.
You can see how left on their own they all had their own ideas and no one was pulling it together cohesively. It was compromised all the way.
For all the Lennon/McCartney songwriting stuff you hear about there was little evidence to see of collaboration
My comment about being more like a rock band doing a ballad was a clumsy way of saying it sounded more like a band and not something Paul and a piano could have done with any old backup.Biggest problem with the recording is that the band loses a guitar from Lennon and he’s a terrible bassist just hitting the notes on a Fender 6.
I reading years ago that despite the Lennon/McCartney writing credits they did very little collaboration throughout the band's history. It was an agreement that all songs written by John or Paul would have the duel writing credits.

so have been looking around for some good chill music lately as work gets a bit more stressful etc, found myself exploring a bit more Jazz which is not the genre I have listened to a lot of in the past. Found some great music in the Montreaux Jazz and San Sebastan Jazz compilations including this one, hope you like...............

I've found the mixes at Music For Programming to be pretty good. Lots of ambient stuff.

Turned on the Sky Arts last night and they were playing an old Ozzy Osbourne concert from Japan - around 2002.
The band was Mike Bordin, Robert Trujillo & Zakk Wylde. It doesn't get much better than that. Wylde is a truly exceptional axe man. The solo on No More Tears is insanely awesome.
Different show this one, but its still all kind of awesome.

Holy shit, THAT is some fucken “backing band”. Wylde and Trujillo are built more like league players than rock stars……and Bordin is just a powerful beast behind the kit.

When I saw Ozzy in 1998, Mike Inez was the bass guitarist and Randy Castillo on drums even though Trujillo and Bordin were still official members of the band.
Trujillo hadn’t joined Metallica at that stage and Faith No More had broken up if I remember rightly ?
Glad that they both got an awesome gig in the interim.

Yeah, if Ozzy got in shit he had a few boys behind him to back hi up for sure!
what's your thoughts on Wylde? I've seen a couple of his clips before and I've never ceased to be completely blown away. He's ridiculously fast but in a melodic way, IMHO. I can't think of a guitarist who I've been more impressed by.

He’s excellent. Fast but plays with feel. The licks on ‘no more tears’ are awesome.
In saying that I haven’t heard a great amount away from Ozzy to be honest. Ozzys boy was Randy Rhoads so he was a tough act to follow but Wylde has nailed it all things considered.

Funny thing is after watching more of the gig today, I've come to the conclusion that he overplays it a bit!
Man I'm fickle.

I prefer Jake E Lee over Randy and Zakk myself.
Had to Google who he was. I’ll have a listen, I’ve realised there’s quite a bit of Ozzys solo stuff I’m not too familiar with. Having read the Sabbath book by Mick Wall recently it’s fair to say he did better when he left Sabbath than they did. Tony and the boys released some utter turkeys……Dio did a great job though, Ian Gillan did as well even though everyone says he didn’t.
It’s tough being a guitarist though, Steve Morse has been in Deep Purple for years now and whilst technically proficient he’s just not Richie, never will be.
