I believe Patel is the first player in history to take the first ten wickets of a Test match?

Some Patel stats from Francis Payne:

Someone also Tweeted that the two NZ contracted spinners are Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi...

Stead loses the plot on the big away tours. Eventually the players can't keep bailing him out of his selectorial genius moments.

Would have helped tonight if Conway didn't punch his bloody bat, at least there'd be one alternative to the misery of Mitchell/Taylor/Nicholls.

The irony being his refusal to play Wags has made history for another top bloke.

Probably wouldn't have stopped the batting implosion but at least Wags would have made them work harder for their runs

He would have been someone who would have given the Indians something to think about.

Looking at this XI - with no Kane, Conway, Boult or Wagner - there's not a lot for India to be intimidated by. Really only Big Kyle and maybe Timmy as significant concerns.

A batsman might bat out of their skin, but far more likely it will be an Indian one. They would have seen three rookies, two guys with little form.

Ahhh Somerville. Contributed nothing with the ball, and now nothing with the bat. Stead has porridge for brains.

And now Ajaz is set the improbable task of helping to avoid the follow on.

Has anyone ever taken 10 wickets then scored 100 next innings?

    You heard it here first

You will find Williamson has a massive say in selections, in fact the driving force in selecting the team more than Stead.

And Jamieson has a big swing and that's that.

Then the non playing Captain also has a bit to answer for.

    You heard it here first

Revising this to taking 10 wickets with the ball, then proving impossible to dismiss with the bat

A mate of mine who I do a lot of coaching with here in Australia when he is here,
Has a coaching role within the Black caps set up.
He tells me Kane has a strong hand in selections.

Send them back out there again. We might be five down again by the close of play.

Have to play aggressively on that wkt or out for 62 again.
They are in 2 minds defend or be positive,Use your feet set up on off stump a bit more too the offies to break up their length a bit,
Can’t play with hard hands on the crease line to the ball spinning that much .

"Christmas in Rarotonga" should be on the cards again for a few of these batsmen.

Absolutely the Captain knows what and how he wants to implement tactics,He has control on the field.
Coach has to back the Captain.
