Watching that led me to this
How did these scriptwriters not get an oscar?
It may be B grade, but there are some great moments in there
Yeah I have extremely vague memories of sitting round drinking with mates and pissing myself at this.
Definitely more “Cult” than mainstream. I might have to have a re watch ( and possibly hate it )
I reckon you love it. As long as you remember it isn't Oscar worthy
Loads of movies aren’t…..and those that are considered Oscar worthy are often absolute shit as well…..I wouldn’t rewatch Monsters Ball, Three billboards, or Argo if you paid me.
I wouldn't rush out to watch Monsters Ball or Three Billboards due to content even though I think they're both good films, but I would for Argo. It's a well made and often fun drama. But I wouldn't watch Shakspeare in Love again but can endlessly watch the film that should have won that year - Saving Private Ryan.
Exactly. Oscars don’t mean shit to me ( says MN5 despite it being extremely possible I’ve completely contradicted myself in another post ). Saving Private Ryan is one of the most re watchable films ever made.

That's a very good movie. pre 007 Daniel Craig in the cast.

I'd re-watch the last two no problem. Woody Harrelson and especially Sam Rockwell are really good in it. Frances McDormand is always a good actor. Argo I've watched heaps and it's surprising how the addition of a beard changed Ben Affleck's acting.

I've never seen it, or Titanic. No interest in either. 1998/99 were terrible for the best movie awards.
I've seen Titanic. It's actually pretty watchable IMHO. Shakespeare in love I've also seen. OK but I would rush to see it again

Titanic is brilliantly made. I reckon it’s an amazing film.

I remember only seeing part of it, they shoot some chick as she was getting changed and she died with everything hanging out, that was pretty cool.

@bovidae im a bit torn about going and watching.....after rewatching the original, for all its faults it did kind of wraps things up, worried too much of it will be a contrived reason to be back
i, however, will go Boxing Day
-
lol, I have always been a fan and I do what I want, so I will go as soon as my wife lets me
-
@mariner4life i did ask and you didn't reply!
I was keen...then less so...probably will be again next week

it's a return to the world of my favourite ever movie, of course i am fucking going. I am interested to see what the new story is.
not everything has to have the expectation of being amazing for me to go. I'll go see bands i love who are way past their prime just because i love them. I'll go see movies because no doubt i will be entertained while i am there even if it is not the greatest thing i ever saw.
-
@mariner4life will quite possibly go but not on boxing day, will wait till i can get tickets easily

i somehow doubt there is going to be overwhelming demand for opening tickets
This is a sequel to a 22 year old movie. Most of the people who will go have other priorities on Boxing Day. It's not like it's the 3rd installment of a current and wildly popular trilogy

The other one in a similar period was the Eric Bana one about Mossad taking out the Munich Olympic killers. Enjoyed that too
Great movie, I've watched it at least 3 times in the past few years with my Palestinian mate who loves it.

That looks pretty damn good actually. I watched the original again a few months back and did wonder what it would be like if they had a good modern GCI budget.
-
@antipodean I watched the original a few weeks back on DVD, and realised I dont have the others on DVD so acquired them on the weekend to watch...
