@kiwiwomble None of them jump out at me but I'll likely give all the non animation ones a first episode watch.

@nepia i think Mark Ruffalo has done something similar, play a role long enough that you can slowly change the character into basically...you, or at least someone easier to play

Jack Nicholson always seems to be Jack Nicholson, but he plays a darn fun and interesting Jack Nicholson.

Ryan Reynolds plays one character with different names in every movie now. He was shit and unwanted until he could do that now every second hack says 'get me that wisecracking Reynolds guy'.

damn, a whole stack of new shows announced, not worried about them all (will probably watch them) but some look real interesting

retro (90's tv show continuation) xmen will be cool and i think secret invasion is a pretty bit event in the comics

The various Marvel Zombie comics were always pretty good - very intense/violent, and quite funny - it will be interesting seeing how those are adapted

Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool in every movie now. IMO it only works in Deadpool.

i think the difference between Reynolds and and some of these marvel actors is he's playing different characters that are all just the same where as we've seen the marvel characters change to become more like the actors....so at one point we saw them all actually act

We saw Reynolds act in Green Lantern. It wasn't good.

@kirwan That was a Tim original, but I'm sure it's been made by many other people.

I’m really struggling with Marvel overload at the moment. If my son wasn’t so excited by these shows and wanting to discuss then, I’d eject from these TV shows.

The Eternals was the worst movie I’ve seen in years. Fucking dribble.

After finishing Hawkeye last night this has been my favourite of the TV shows released this year. It has just the right combination of action and comedy, and the appearance of a much-loved villain.

I was late to the party so didn't read this thread to avoid spoilers. My ranking would be:

    Hawkeye
    WandaVision
    Loki
    What If...?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

I sat down to do my top 10 movies list (which I think I post every year on the Fern), but I normally base it off my list of movies I see in the cinema (which the various membership clubs keep records of) which was difficult this year as I watched way more not at the cinema due to Glady's Delta.

Then I realised I'd seen 8 or the 9 Marvel releases this year so that would be an easier list to do. I haven't seen What If, so here's my ranking of this years marvel from favourite to least favourite.

Wandavision: I thought this was great from the confusing sitcom beginning, which I know some didn't like, through the expanding storyline.

Shang-Chi: I think this was my first post Delta movie, so it was both great to be back in the cinema and see a movie with some good action set pieces. Could have done without the flying eel/dragons at the end but aside from that really enjoyed it.

Spider-man: This was just a good fun movie, I had a few issues with it, but then that is true of any Marvel property I think. Best way to explain the quality of this movie is it made me care about the second Spider-man and not dislike the actor like I normally do.

Hawkeye: Best way to explain the quality of this show is it made me care about Hawkeye. Kate Bishop was a good addition, I like the actress in most roles she plays, and new Black Widow was fun too.

The Eternals: I don't get the distain for this movie. I knew nothing about The Eternals going in, yet managed to keep up with all the new characters being introduced, and understood who their characters were. I liked it, even though I thought it was bit overlong and needed a tighter edit (again something most Marvel films could do with).

Black Widow: The first half espionage thriller movie was really good, the final act Marvel fight on a floating ship wasn't. I wish it had stayed an espionage thriller, if so it would have been higher on the list. This also came quite a few years too late.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Another mostly good show that like The Eternals seems to attract some distain on the interwebs. I enjoyed it enough while watching it. Probably wanted to see more of the title characters together, and the original Cap storyline would have been better to be the A plot rather than those weird freedom-fighter/terrorists.

Loki: I like Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, however, I found the female variant and the big overlord dude at the end to be wooden and uncharismatic. I can remember really enjoying parts of it but being ultimately disappointed at the end (and largely due to those casting choices). Gugu MBatha Raw's mere presence nearly kept it in the top half, nearly, but she wasn't in it quite enough.

I know almost nothing about moonknight, yet another genre shift for Marvel, feels like a physcological thriller maybe, almost donny darko kind of vibe?

I do have a feeling from this like i had from eternals....i really dont see how they'll merge with the rest of the MCU

re your point about eternals @Nepia, other than my point just there about how it works with the rest, i think , my biggest issue was the reason for them not helping fight thanos, "we never interfere except when it involves deviants"...except all the stuff you do helping nudge the human race along...and if their end game was to grow the population so it was big enough for the celestial to feed...surely stopping half of them dying would have helped...and finally they went from not caring if half the world died to very much caring very quickly...like caring enough to try and kill each other

Vaguely a Marvel version of Batman.

@kiwiwomble the trailer seems focused on his “multiple personalities “ but when in super mode his abilities are about hand to hand combat and gadgets. He is meant to get stronger with moon phases though.
    Just similarly to Batman.

@kiwiwomble Yeah, I thought the premise that they've been around but didn't do anything was bloody stupid. I'd have preferred if they were just in their own universe. We can blame Fiege for that.
