@tim long video to say; "nope".

Industry makes more money they hollywood, think of how many shitty movies are make every year. They are in the same boat, just in the stage where bad Star Wars movies are being made.

What is a potential big change is if goverments decide micro transactions are gambling for children (hint; they are) and ban them. Sooner that happens the better, and then we might get finished games again, instead of having to buy pieces of them after release.

@kirwan ... and I now spend more on games than movies each year. I'm not a big gamer - but movies are expensive, shit, and the theatres are full of idiots. Some o fthe modern games are amazingly good and interesting.

So yeah, can't see that changing soon.

@nzzp playing through knights of the old republic and Witcher 3 last year…both better stories than so many movies that get made…hell, Witcher 3 could be a series of movies

I’m sure there are loads of others I don’t know about as I’m only really a casual gamer

@kiwiwomble I really tried to get into Witcher 3, but found it a real drag. I'm nto alone, but it sure is an unpopular opinion.

I may try again sometime, as it's such a well regarded game. I just kinda found it a chore, and the combat was frustrating as all hell

@nzzp no I get it, I returned it. Not my cup of tea, but it’s very popular.

@nzzp fair enough, I’m sure it’s not for everyone, I really loved the stories, even the side quests, basically none of them are clear cut good or bad, all areas of grey, lesser of two evils kind of stuff

Either of you watch the Witcher Netflix series?

Yes, love the series. It almost lost me with the bard, then I started liking the fucking song. That is a hell of a magic trick in of itself.

The boy now has a PS5. It is a fucking lump of a thing.

Not much storage for all that, so he needs to get an external drive. He's got a job stacking shelves so he can buy that himself.

I just imagined Jack Black singing it. Sold.

So after a long time out of the gaming world other than a bit of PS4, I got myself and my 8 year old boy a gaming PC each for Christmas.

Anyone got the recommendations for decent co op games we could play together? Preferably not too violent, though he can easily handle PG 13 type stuff - I don't think he's ever gotten scared of a movie he's watched.

    @no-quarter portal 2 cooperative.

Collaborative problem solving excellence. Edit: on steam with I think an active community making new test chambers. Check it out if it's your thing

If you want FPS cooperative, not my bag!

No Man’s Sky? Exploration game, resource management, base building, missions.

Pretty chill, relaxing game that has some mine craft aspects.

Minecraft itself is a fun game and can be a challenge, make your own server and go wild. Survival mode can be as hard as you want to make it
